Dudy Noble Field Expansion

While we do have the best stadium in college baseball, there is room for improvement and growth. We don't need to look back 10 years from now and wish we should have done something to keep improving the stadium. We don't need to make huge changes, but we should add seats and features every couple years. Here's my plan:

1. Budget Cut Corner. Ah, yes, the left field corner. There is no doubt that this area got the shaft when the money started to run out. Even the walking path tapers down like a dwindling pocketbook as you make your way to the Lounge. This is the area that needs to be addressed the most and has the most potential to add to the capacity and look of the stadium as you approach the Plaza. Do away with the berm and extend the upper deck, angling them in to improve sight lines. Add more bathrooms underneath.

2. Put chairbacks where the tiered berm is. This seems obvious. The tiered berm just doesn't work there, and you can't even see the plate from the upper corner. Leave the rest of the berm. It has character and is a very unique view of the field.

3. Add another Motel 6. This was in the plans, anyway.

There's already some plans to add some chairbacks but not a lot. The LF corner is never going away. They're getting closer to the additional OF lofts.

We need to expand Duty Noble, no question in my mind about it. With that being said, I would not spend a dime on football or basketball facilities until we get a better handle on how this NIL stuff is going to play out. I think baseball will continue to be pretty stable, but I have a bad feeling about the other big sports. Go ahead and work on DNF while we take some time to see how NIL impacts us.

While we are building more motels, lets do something to make them “look” like they are part of a baseball park. Someone drew something up that had “left field lofts” in big lit up maroon letters across the top of the buildings. That looked pretty good. As they are now, they don’t look like they are part of dudy noble.

Wont look any different than it does now on a weeknight and no one cares. The avg viewership on a tuesday night game vs nicholls state doesnt matter. Those guys are already our fans

I’ve never understood this logic.

Nobody cares if it looks empty when it is empty, because the interest of the television demographic and the real life demographic is proportional. If nobody’s in the stadium, there aren’t going to be that many folks watching on TV, either.

So to clarify, I don't really see any renovations as an "expansion" when it comes to capacity. We've kinda maxed out at 14-15K fans for the biggest games for 30+ years now. And that's with a big chunk of that being people crammed in on top of one another via general admission in the outfield or SRO. What you're really talking about is just trying to make those 14-15K more comfortable. Which I get, having to do SRO for a big game isn't the greatest experience in the world.

But more seats doesn't necessarily equal greater capacity. It could actually reduce our ceiling for attendance a little bit. Not the most important issue but worth noting I think. I've also seen people talk about wanting a 20,000 seat stadium and I don't really see that ever happening. I think we have our core fanbase of 14-15K that will come to the absolute biggest games and that's probably what it's always going to be.

Total of 12 of those this year and 3 were postponed because of weather. You'd rather NOT build because of those rather than build to accommodate the many that ***** about no General Admission seating and lack of chairbacks for the other 20+ games?

They won’t remove berms to add chairbacks. The idea behind the berms was to aesthetics during the games that aren’t sellouts, but they still allow seating capacity. Berms are a win-win.

Add a 2nd condo and expand the left field corner into a plaza for standing room only with shade features, televisions, concessions, restrooms.

I believe (memory sucks) addition of chairbacks will be down LF side. The addition of lofts will also add rooftop seats. We can't get crazy but adding 1000 seats is big.

No one (including the university) ares about that either. And they shouldnt. More seats=more season ticket sales. Those seats produce revenue whether they are full or empty.

It also means more access for the people that are mad they cant vet seats for SBW or big series. Best of both worlds

You also have to keep in mind that the stadium was designed and built based on what ticket demand was 5-6 years ago when we had hosted two Regionals in the span of 15 years. Three straight Omaha trips and a national title later, the dynamic has changed a bit.

Is there a way to build another level of terraces of LFL from the lofts around to center ? I have only been to the new stadium once since completion and didn't really look at it with that in mind, but I felt like all of right field had the space for one more terrace up to the scoreboard. There can never be to many LFL spaces.

A lot of these people don’t realize you have to pony up and sign a 10 year seat donation on top of the ticket cost each year. It’s not just pay for your seats each year.
