It was pretty obvious that under Shawn Watson and Tim Beck that we weren't going to be in the running to get the "Deshawn Watsons" of the world when it came to dual threats. We had to settle for the scraps.

But with Frost being here, who better to sell to the elite dual threats recruits? He can always pin Mariota as his reason why they should consider playing for him at Nebraska. Mariota won the Heisman and is still well known.

There are two types of dual threat QBs IMO...

Tommie Frazier Jr, Scott Frost, Eric Crouch, Taylor Martinez and Tommy Armstrong Jr were all runners that threw the ball.

I would like for us to try the version of a dual threat QB that is a passer that can also run. I think this version opens up the most for us to have balance. Also keeps everyone involved on offense. Power running with the RBs. Air attack with WR and TE. Then keep the defense guessing in 3rd down situations with run pass option. A lot like the offense we see PSU running now.

Can the Duggan kid from CB do this? (Not sure if I spelled that right)

Jace Ruder from Norton, KS. Lives just a few miles south of the Nebraska border.

4-star dual-threat committed to UNC. December grad. Frost still has time to offer and get him to visit early Dec.

I know the old staff liked him, but a better fit in Frost O.

This.

You named some good/great QBs. TMart's speed was a killer until his injury vs Mizzou. TA was a tough sob when it came to running.

I have bought it up a few times in the past that I wish we had a QB that could run instead of a RB playing QB. TA and TMart just weren't good enough passers when they needed to be (like when a defense loads up the box to stop the run).

If they were an actual consistent threat with their arms, those two would have been amazing and NU would have won a hell of a lot more games than they did.

Going from RB playing QB to immobile QB did not work out so well. It just showed me how much we actually need a dual threat QB playing.

Throwing with great accuracy can open up a little space to run. Give us a guy that can take advantage of that with his legs and many will be happy.

Frazier - Palmetto, Florida
Frost - Wood River
Newcombe - Albuquerque, NM
Crouch - Omaha
Lord - New Jersey
Martinez - Corona, California
Armstrong - Cibolo, Texas

We can get them from just about anywhere in the country. Find him, recruit him, get him.

Time to see our QBs making great plays all game again.

Or Bo selling Suh. Bo & Carl P. coached Suh and used that great momentum to bring in Jay Guy, Vestal and two other guys I don't remember. It's an all-time blunder.
You forgot Murice Collins and Vincent Valentine. NFL 3rd round picks. Hardly a miss

Still not convinced Gebbia is the guy to fit Frost's offense. Would like to see us target true dual threat QBs.

Given that a QB should be recruited every year, I agree. But Gebbia is less of a square peg for the round hold of Frost's offense than TA was for Riley.

No doubt! Nebraska should be getting a once a generation type of players at QB in every class!!! If it were that easy every school would have a QB like that. It doesn't work that way all the time. The only name you drop is one of the better college QB's in the last 20 years.

Dudes like Watson, Mayfield, Vick, Young, Frazier to name a few, just very rarely come around. To turn guys like TMart and Tommy Armstrong from good players to great players you need to have a strong cast of all american players around them as well.

Russel Wilson had decent numbers at NC State, but the records weren't that great. It wasn't until he got surrounded by some more talent at Wiscy, did here really become a great QB. QB will be important, but this thing is going to need to be built as a unit.

Moos is 65 years old and knows that a mobile QB is better...Riley is 65 and didn't know and he is a coach.

My hope is that Gebbia is just who we're looking for.

I would like him to be a little more fleet of foot, but he can scoot. If it is true that he is all N, we are damn lucky to have him. Having him available will make the transition much much easier.

Just win and it helps sell itself..
Yep, I love how people say, "Nebraska can't recruit, no kid wants to come to crappy Nebraska." All it takes is a good season or 2 and guys getting drafted and the flood gates open. Kids want to be where a team is winning and they have a good chance to go pro. Doesn't really matter where in the country it is located.

How fast is Gebbia and POB, what are their 40 times?

Not trying to knock down POB but I don't think he really fits the running role. He looked like he had a little scoot in his appearances only because we were comparing him to the aircraft carrier like nimbleness of Tanner Lee.

I think playing behind Cav's O-line shaves at least .25 off everyone's 40 time. Something about a "fight or flight" response.

Never heard of him.

Watched his Hudl film. Wowser. Get him switched Frost!

He doesn't look fast, but he sure ran well against whatever competition was in tge highlight video. Made the defenders looks stupid.

Maybe he just looks slow cuz of his size... because I googled his 40 time and found 4.49 and 4.46... daaaaaamn! The next Crouch? Even if we don't get Frost, we need to get this kid!

Norton isn't too far from me so I doubt his competition was that good, considering the area of NW Kansas, but his film sure looks good.

My brother covers the state of Kansas for both Sports in Kansas and Kansas Pregame and has watched Jace more than a couple times over the last couple seasons.

Norton was a much better squad a season ago. Jace and his backfield mate in Petrie, kind of had to carry the load this season. Not making any excuses for him, but his wideouts weren’t the most reliable and he lost some key lineman off of last season’s squad.

The league in which he plays in is one of the better small school leagues in the state. The MCL has powers like Smith Center and Phillipsburg. #1 Smith Center won class 2A in lopsided fashion and Phillipsburg was upset in the class 3A semi finals. PBurg was ranked #1 at the time. A couple of the kids off of each of these teams already have preferred walk on offers from KSU. If you put Ruder on either of these teams and he would have ridiculous stats.

All in all, you won’t find a more physically gifted quarterback in this area. He has all the tools to be a stud in an offense like the one run by Scott Frost.

Tobi Okuyemi, Walker Ashburn and Chase Rome. Rome seemed to have some potential before transferring.
