The standard is not just better than Cal though. If we hire Drew and get out of the first weekend 20% of the time for the next decade would you be happy?
Of course not but no one knows for certain how he would do here. You can’t just take what he’s done at Baylor and project that to what he would do at UK. We have made 5 coaches national champions.

Screw it, get Pitino. 5 years. Year 2 he will be winning ball games. Unlike Captain Fayetteville who can't even beat Evansville, saint peters, Oakland and the list goes on.

Yeah it’s honestly hilarious, they’re examining everything lol
It’s one of the craziest things I have listened to. Them trying to get a damn audio engineer for a 20 second video. These guys are beyond delusional and it’s hilarious

There's been a lot of trolling and false info out there already. I shudder to think about how ridiculous it will get before there is an announcement and we can all move forward.

Drew would be a very underwhelming hire in my opinion. Only won 30 games in a season once in his career and his lone championship was during the covid year. He's been at Baylor forever. I'd hope he'd be a last resort type option for Mitch and not the first call.
During the covid year there wasn’t a tournament, he won the year after the covid year.

clearly the commissioner says the word "offer" in the video, but that isn't that surprising. His name has been put on everyone's list for who to hire, her asking tells nothing we didn't already know. It doesn't even confirm that an offer has been made since she could be asking because of his name being attached to kentucky. And none of it means he is saying yes. There's nothing new to learn even if more of the audio could be heard

Im so sad after being so happy. You don't loose Cal and go safest bet Barney. Dam so 3 yrs more bs. Then both go I hope. Kentucky needs a big splash not a slip into a warm bath like an old man.
Unless Donovan is interested, I just don't think there are any potential big splashes out there for Barnhart to get.

I mean, Nate Oats is a young coach who was on the brink of a championship this year and expressed interest (Per Kyle Tucker). Maybe we should call him and see what he's up to?

He literally put out a statement saying he’s not coming. That ship has sailed.

Drew is a limp dick hire when we already haven't seen the FF in a decade. We suck now. It's a rebuild, not Baylors coach. We aren't rushing to a FF with Drew. He'll Edgevomb probably takes his second choice in Dook, making it even worse.

I am personally cool with drew , but it’s hard to believe he’s been presented with contract numbers to ponder and all that yet
Whoever gets hired it’s gotta happen quick. Transfer portal closes in about 3-4 weeks.

And Roy Williams didn't give a **** about UNC, Nick Saban wasn't going to be the coach at Alabama and coach Brooks was excited for Va Tech's future two weeks ago.

It's coach speak. He literally said the same thing he could have said after a mid-summer practice with that statement. No raise, no facilities promises; just a generic statement about the program.

If he said he's been contacted by UK and "no thanks" that's completely different.

This is a nightmare hire. He's not built to coach here. FFS I KNEW Mitch would screw this up horribly.

I find it weird that a lot of people that were bashing the Cal people for "lowing the standards" are also ok with getting guys that are "better than Cal".

This is where we are at right now?

We don't just want "better than Cal"............it has to be much much better than the last 5 years of Cal.

Hurley is 51, Drew is 53. Cal was 50 when he arrived here. Joe B was in his late 40’s as was Tubby. Only pitino would qualify as he was 37 in 1990.

It was the covid shortened season. UK only played 25 games that year. He's the most boring possible hire we could have but maybe he'll win big here, who knows?
Once again, NO it wasn't. They was 26-4 the Covid year and might have won it all that year. The very next year, they did win it all, going something like 28-2. Drew could have very well won back to back titles if not for the Covid year. THERE WAS NOT A TOURNAMENT DURING THE COVID YEAR !! Do you understand now ?

By the way, the first three coaches who will be contacted are :

Hurley
Donovan
Drew

My prediction is, ONE of the three takes the job. Yesterday less than 18 hours after reports came out Cal was going to Arkansas, several posters was saying this guy isn't coming, that guy isn't coming. Cal hasn't officially resigned yet, you can't have FORMAL talks with potential candidates until AFTER he is officially gone. Mitch has not offered ANYBODY yet, so all these guru's do not know jack ****. It was less than a day, and before the current coach has left, with peoples schedule's, it takes time. Relax and enjoy the ride, remember how long Cal took ?
