Take advantage of it and run with it, because once you are established as an NFL kicker or punter it's really hard to lose your job until your leg falls off.
I should have leveraged my two punt, pass and kick titles more aggressively. NFL kicker is a hell of a gig. Pressure to be sure, but you can go out to dinner without being noticed (more often than not) and your body doesn't get the hell beat out of it.
You don't make quarterback money but a solid career will definitely set you up for a great life in your 40s and 50s.

Kaeding missed 3 fgs in afc championship game I think. Never saw a roster again i think. Suspect memory here.

Wasn't the AFC title game but he did have one awful game vs the Jets. But he was also first team all Pro the same year and played three more seasons in the league. Chargers weren't going to cut him for one bad game, no matter how untimely. If you're a rookie and screw up, you are on the street and might not get another look though.

I am pretty sure he still played for the chargers after that game, not sure if he missed 3 of them, Shottenheimer also ran a play that lost yardage on the game ending fg which made it quite long. I am talking about the 2007 playoff game and it was a 54 yard miss.

One thing that works against kickers and punters is their contract. Unless you are the premier dude at your position, pro teams often try to find a more team friendly contract. It seems they want to find a young guy on their first contract rather than pay the veteran on their second or third contract. That being said, once you are established I agree there always seems to be an opportunity somewhere.

Great opportunity for Drew, but holy smokes, the pressure! This preseason with the Commanders is literally going to define his life. Come through and get established with the team and he could end up having a legacy like Gary Anderson. Choke away this opportunity and he’ll never be heard from him again.
