That brings this year's total to 13, right? Seven guys drafted and six signed as UDFAs.
He has the leg to hit the long ones but the pros like machines out there and maybe Drew's make percentage is a little low. But if he is super consistent in training camp etc who knows. Would love to see him make it
Small correction, he isn't signed. Just invited to the rookie mini-camp (same as everyone's favorite Heisman loser).
Jake Moody is the Commanders current rostered kicker. It looks like he missed 8 or 9 games last season.
NFL is a tough business. Only 32 spots for kickers total. And young/rookie kickers have an extremely short leash. I'd say kickers need a solid 3 years of consistent success in the NFL before their mistakes are forgiven. Good luck, Drew.
Apparently some other teams got interested after the mini-camp invite so Washington signed him to the UDFA contract to avoid someone else poaching him.
Moody bounced between 3 teams and spent time on practice squads. He got the yips in San Francisco and they cut him. Ended up on the Bears practice squad and was elevated to the active roster a couple times while Santos was hurt. He hit a big game winner (don't recall against who). Then Washington eventually signed him off the Bears practice squad.
Moody is definitely not an entrenched starter. Probably still on pretty thin ice. Great opportunity for Stevens.
