It is pretty funny because my guess is his numbers were similar to Ayton as a freshman. Ayton was taken 1 in the draft and Richards as of now isn't even getting a first round sniff. I mean from a talent prospective everybody talks about Whitney, but Richards is by far the most talented guy on the team, 6-11 (7-5) wingspan and soft touch.

Literally as recent as like last season we’ve had people wondering “how Booker can drop 70 and score at will and be a beast” etc etc but didn’t do that at college. Almost as if his freshman year at UK wasn’t SEVERAL years ago?
I wish there was a way to somehow display what everyone who posts something like that was like at 18 vs. what they were like at 22.
People don't realize that high school to college in year 1 is harder than college to NBA.
High school you go from playing boys to grown men in college. In high school...teams have 6'5 centers...in college you have 6'10 centers that are strong as a high school football linebacker and fast as a high school point guard.
You're playing more minutes and in more games. You can't just take a game off and drop 30 against a 5'9 kid guarding you....you have to play both ends of the court. You have to earn every minute in practice. You aren't the centerpiece. New system, new coach, new rules, new teammates....oh and thousands of fans vs. a few hundred in high school
And? You have from June when you get there until October to get ready. It's not your job...you have to make grades too and live in a small dorm. You're on your own for the first time.
The NBA? If you're lucky enough to make it...then you have a special talent. You're already used to playing against bigger guys, so that won't be a big adjustment. You're playing with pros who can teach you instead of learning like in college....and a full coaching/scouting/training staff committed to making you better. You're now getting paid. No class, just can work on your game at all times with high quality info and methods....a personal chef and trainer too if you want?
Remember the NBA drafts on potential. There is a chance that I can teach a 6'7", long reach, high level athlete like Whitney to improve his dribbling, shooting, and passing. There is no chance that I can teach a highly skilled 5'10" player with average athleticism to get taller, longer, and more athletic. A good example is that Tyler Ulis couldn't make it in the league. That being said, I'll be the first to agree that Whitney has a long way to go on the skills, especially dribbling.
Remember, never question these mock drafts because they know more than fans. Just blindly follow them and don't use logic reason and think for yourself and make your own conclusions.
Wait ...WHAT? And these are "updated" projections? Have they not watched a single UK game?
Yes, I know about the whole "drafts on potential" thing, but I can't imagine anyone who's watched us still believing that Whitney should be drafted ahead of Hagans, Nick or Quickley.

Well it is interesting to read again all those “just give Whitney time” posts. I don’t ever watch the NBA but if He’s the 24th best prospect then this draft must be terrible.
Oh shut up and stop crying. You're the clown who think's the guys who make these movk drafts can't be questioned. You lazily adopt their opinions and try to call out others who question them. Any mock draft this early is a dart throw and basically meaningless. Keep adopting others opinions and I'll keep on giving my own opinion.

Nick Richards played himself into being drafted, Whitney played himself out of the first round. A lot can happen in 2 months
Whitney at 24 proves draft express doesn't know much except how to throw darts at a board with names on it.
No chance. His stock will never be as high as it is after this season. He should go.
i pretty much agree. i won’t say no chance but i also think he’s good enough to make it. he’d likely be a favorite for aa at the 2 spot and would increase our chances next year even more, but the perimeter will be loaded anyway. we’d miss his experience and toughness though. he’s been steady.
Isaiah Stewart is no longer starting for Washington. They must be amazing then.
How is his stock high, he is not in the top 2 rounds of any mock draft? If they go to the final 4 and he is great then his stock may go may up ala Lamb and Teague. If not he needs to come back and show he can play point!
