Where is it? For the life of me I can’t figure out why ShaqCarter doesn’t play more. He showed signs in the first two big ten games but is now back on the bench for Johnson. Maybe he’s not great on D? I don’t know. No, I’m not questioning Pike. But I just don’t get it

The other problem is when our guys dribble and penetrate, they pass wildly to the bigs and the ball goes out of bounds.

Geo tries to do a little too much sometimes on the dribble drive. Same with Kiss. You see the occassional no look pass. Don’t need it. Make the fundamental play

I am ready for a little more Mamadou. He and Myles are the future. You know what your getting offensively from Shaq Doorson. Unfortunately not much. Shaq Carter did have some good moments in the Big Ten games but did not do much in limited minutes today.

True but Shaq is your best post defender

Johnson has zero confidence down low and I’m not sure why. He looks to kick it out even if he’s one foot front the rim. Confidence will do wonders for him.

Low post scoring happens with your legs and footwork, then the ability to use whatever size to your advantage. As much as Myles has come along over the last 18 months, it is very, VERY difficult to gain confidence in your game and footwork when your touches are limited and there's not a specific way to score inside.

The way everyone defends anything inside on a set play or designed dump into the post is to run a weakside defensive player to force a double team and then recover when the ball is passed out.

You have to be good with your footwork (face up game, quick positioning for a hook AND you must be willing to jump-stop or pump fake to draw contact.

I dont think the next 2 games are ideal games to expand the bigs touches, i think there are more pressing items on offense (figuring out a role for Thiam to me is the most difficult thing for the staff to find something he can do).

Ironically, Thiam at 6'9 or 6'10 is probably your best low post player that can at least attempt to shoot over a player but you still have to be able to post, face up and pass out of traffic and be strong with the ball...those aren't his selling points.
