Something to root for, looking ahead to UGA next game:
If Jackson goes 0-5 and Lujo goes 3-5 then Jackson loses the batting title and therefore the triple crown.

Would preserve Palmeiro and Rooker as the only 2 winners.
(Also assuming they get eliminated)

As predicted, Omaha has exposed them in a big way.

Scored 20-something runs on 9 or 10 home runs at the Foley Field launching pad over 2 games. Get to a real stadium, they score 10 runs total in 2 games, 4 home runs total (3 solo), and a combined 2-14 with RISP. Without Volchko throwing a gem 2 days ago, they’d already be out.

ETA: Against Oklahoma, they had 10 fly-outs, 11 K’s mostly swinging, a line-out, and had a runner picked off. Only 4 times did they put it in play on the ground. That is just not how you win games in that stadium, no matter how jacked your lineup is.

If anybody can bash their way back in, it’s Georgia.

Bur Oklahoma has that it factor right now, I think it’s more that than anything

I can’t call it yet.

Hard to bash your way back in it in that park. And they have to win 3 straight vs 2 very good teams. They may do it. But right now I think I’m betting Okie , then Texas with UGA 3rd.

Hard to bet against OU.

I keep forgetting they dropped GTech too. Wasn’t an accident.

Sooners and Tar Heels look to have best chance playing for the Natty. But it will get interesting between Texas and Georgia trying to rebound.
Man, those two freshmen pitchers for the Sooners were incredible.

Oklahoma has gotten hot at exactly the right time. That is often more important than being the best team.
Very true. Conference only stats - Oklahoma was 15th out of 16 teams in team ERA (6.92), and they were 12th out of 16 team in runs. 14-16 in SEC play, with a loss to LSU in Hoover.

Fast forward, they have how played 6 consecutive games against the Top 16 seeds, 4 of which were against Top 3 seeds, and none of them were at home. 6-0 record. Scoring 9.5 runs per game against elite competition. Surrendering 3.5 runs per game. To say that they are a completely different team would be an understatement.

They very much have a 2022 Ole Miss vibe going for them (and oddly enough they were the national runners up that year).

Texas is solidly ahead of us as a historical program. Many more national titles and CWS appearances. Not as far ahead as LSU, but we ain't catching them in our lifetimes.

Oklahoma clearly passes us in national prowess with another national title.

Georgia arguably does as well.

The choice is pretty simple for me.

I don't want any SEC team to win for these exact reasons. But one of them has to make the final, and I'd rather it be Oklahoma than the other two.
OU hasn't won the CWS since '94. UGA last won in '90. Texas last in '02 and '05.

Maybe it's because OU is the "least SEC" school out of the three of them. I just don't have the hatred developed for them yet that I do for the other two. I hated that Texas came into the SEC and immediately won the conference in baseball and football. I hate their fanbase and McConaughey and their stupid bull and the color orange. I hate Wes and that they are also the bulldogs and that they already are good at football and now they want to be good at baseball too and the fact that no matter the blood sweat and tears we put up they managed to beat us 6 17'ing times this year.

17 Texas and 17 UGA. OU, meh...

I just can’t muster the passion some of y’all have for certain teams not winning it now that the Mississippi schools are done.

I’m just gonna continue to watch it play out.

Yep, in 2022 the OM pitching staff was fairly mediocre during the regular season and then somehow became unhittable during the NCAA tournament all the way through to the title.

In that park where HRs aren't cheap, I'm not seeing Georgia come out of the loser's bracket. They just don't have enough pitching depth and its hard to just homer your way to victory there.

With walks and errors they still had pretty effective situational hitting without the long ball against us. Overall, I agree with you though.

Several uga hits last night I said that would have been out in their park. Homerun teams get humbled by td ameritrade. You got to have good pitching and base hitting teams. Our two trips to the finals was based on good pitching and hitting base knocks and an occasional home run at the right time not home run derby

Same, I'll continue to check the scores the next day but if we "ain't" in it I "ain't" watchin it. Especially with Eduardo calling them

Gotta pull for Georgia tonight. My granddaughter just finished her freshman year at UGA and doesn't give a whit about sports, but still - I don't like Texas.

I hate, HATE, that all our kids and grand kids have went out of state. But it’s reality. For me too.
