Cal has got to STOP trying to humiliate Shows when he DOES make a bad call.

Screaming at him all the way across the floor only gets us MORE bad calls, and usually at the worst possible time.

Shows has rabbit ears and a thin skin. That's a bad combination for a referee.
Shows and the rest of them should be graded by an actual referee committee and have be forced to do press conferences and account for their terrible and inconsistent calls. Joe Lindsay was the worst damn ref the other night, Shows sucks, TV Teddy, Roofer, lucky, Blind Karl Hess, Mike Eades, so many bad refs.

The refs in this league are clearly tired of Cal
Oscar knows there is emphasis on above the shoulders stuff and he keeps doing it
If we had a player do a full body block mid-air like Marble did on Toppin that would have been an F1
I am sick of Dykes defending ****** calls
This league has gotten better with some really great athletes, the officials are doing a really poor job of controlling the physicality

Unfortunately, referees defend bad officiating in public. Can't say how they critique each other in private, but you will rarely ever hear one official be critical of another official's bad call.

They will almost always DEFEND a bad call. They may say something like " he was out of position" or he saw it from a bad angle, but you will rarely hear them say he made a bad call or he blew that call.

They are rarely accountable to each other, and definitely don't think they should be held accountable to coaches and fans.

They are a lot like the media. They see themselves as above everyone else.

It is up to SEC commissioner to address the horrible officiating in the SEC.

I would start by checking to see if they have a bookie.

They hated us long before Cal bud and also there’s a thing called gambling. I see what you’re saying but these officials are fn crooked and need to be in jail.
Don't know how old you are, but there was a time in Memorial and Rupp Arena where we got a " home" whistle for every game.

Other fans called it Rip Arena because they knew they were going to get their rear ends ripped by the officials.

It was nearly impossible for us to lose at home anyway, and the refs helped us out in a lot of close games.

No more. Not since John Calipari rants and roams the sidelines at Rupp.

Refs make bad calls all the time. If they hate one coach over another, it always affects the critical close calls.

K did the same things. Why did they kiss his ***?
No K didn't do what Cal does to the officials.

K would call a timeout and either literally bring one or two of them into the team huddle and read them the riot act, walk off the floor with them at halftime and give them an earful, or get the official standing next to his bench and let him know what to call on the floor, but I never saw K rant and scream while the game was going on or during a dead ball when everyone in the arena can hear you berate a ref, like Cal does.

It is just human nature for the refs to want to pay Cal back for acting like an a hole. The refs have the final say because they have the whistle.

110%. His track record against UK should be disqualifying.

That's the thing our win/loss percentage with shows isn't horrible. The guy just makes horrendous calls. John Adams on Twitter just praises the guy non stop. He's completely inconsistent with his calls and has determined everyone in attendance is there to watch him tweet is whistle.
If he's the gold stand of officials then gold is trash can juice.

His track record against UK is what gets him assigned to UK games.

He knows what he's doing and the league obviously approves of it.
UK has a 71% win record when shows is one of the refs per Jon Scott's site IIRC.

It’s the name on the front of the jersey they hate not just the coach. He don’t help **** but I see a lot of bad calls way before Cal starts running his chops.
That time was a lot different my friend. Refs are getting under table pay now and are not being held accountable. Men were grown ups then now we got a bunch of bitches running the show.

I don’t know anything about that particular referee, so I won’t comment on that part of the post. However, I’ve said for years that I think referee’s as a whole should have accountability. There’s too much money at stake, especially now that we’re paying players.

In my opinion, if coaches, schools, etc. can’t criticize officials then I think referee’s should have to face the media after every game. I would be fine with giving them 24-48 hours to review the games they called in order to prepare. However, they should be held accountable good or bad, at some point

Should not be allowed to ref our games anymore. Rewatching this game he made 2 calls out of position and they’re always calls that benefit the opposing team. Can’t stand that cheater.
Shows is corrupt. His father played at Mississippi State and despised Kentucky. Doug kept his referee shoes in an Arkansas Razorback shoe carrier coming up in the division 2 ranks in the early 90 s. He openly talked about his hatred for Kentucky. SEC leaders don't care . He will always give Ky the short end.

Well wasn’t it Anthony Jordan that got in trouble for sporting LSU great right before a huge LSU game? Like come on. SEC has to do better. Pay these guys full time for the season and then when it’s offseason send them to conferences or skills sharpening.

It’s not hard. They just don’t want to do it.

The SEC commissioner is a clown at best and probably a crook like the refs. That’s why there is no accountability.

Shows loves to make a game changing or momentum changing call against KY. Remember the gem below from the LSU game earlier this month? Shows waives his arms, hops up and down and makes a phantom call on Wallace. No other college basketball official would call a foul.

He should be investigated, his calls are so obviously absurd multiple times. Someone should put together a highlight reel through the years and post.

The foul on Wallace rebounding instead of being an and 1 being among them.
This! He literally just made up that push off call on Wallace., or imagined he had to have pushed off, so he just assumed he did.

I’m sure he probably is. I’m just guessing based on what I’ve seen from the Redeem Team documentary and from stories on Podcast. Can’t imagine why else the refs gave him a pass.
I have tried to figure that out for years. They are either getting compensated, or they are intimidated by him like he's a mafia boss. But nearly every game you can sit there, and lip read the profanity coming out at his mouth right at the refs, and nary 1 technical. Any other coach would be thrown out of the game.

What’s infuriating about that is that should’ve been on LSU! HORRID and should’ve been out of a job at least in this conference.

These officials are supposed to be being graded. How is that not only and F but a suspension for lying?!

We need someone to drop the hammer on this corruption.

I know that’s sarcasm but lol. K is of Polish decent and Catholic. Not exactly widely “liked” in this country.

Again, I ask, what made refs kiss Ks ***.
Because the ACC would cower to K. Referees would lose games if K complained.

The SEC doesn't care, as long as the pigskin guys do what Saban wants

No way of avoiding all of them that has always given us trouble. Most of the time they will have one of about 10 bad ones that does our games.

Can’t imagine why the reffing fraternity hate Cal’s guts. Frankly he’s not a very likable guy.
Every school has a ref they hate. We just happen to have a few more than most. Is it Cal's fault? Possibly. But Coach K was just a dickhead to most refs, yet they still got the calls. So there's something to it being the school and program, not just the coach.

Why do we always have at least 1 of Sirmons, Shows, TV Teddy or Lindsey? They all suck!

When I'm about to watch a game and don't know any refs names I'm excited, but it rarely happens. I know they hate Cal but it almost feels like they all hate us since the rooferee death threats. Like they make it a point to screw us.

I we wonder if any played ball. They seem like nerds who want to take down the jocks.

Anyone can bet on games online in nearly 100% anonymity these days. One day we'll have a computer engineer working for one of these gambling sites that is also a bball fan that leaks the info to the press, because although it might appear anonymous on the surface, you have to be 21 to gamble in the USA, so IDs and proof and your actual name is required.

We should never know officials by name
The fact that we do and we know how the game will be called based on the name is unacceptable
We'd just call them by slang phrases:

That orange guy that owns the roofing company with a hair cap (Higgins).

That black guy that always gets nose-to-nose with Calipari and loves the replay (Pat Adams).

That one guy with the dark hair that struts around with his hands on his hips and loves the replay (Shows).

That chunky dude with pasty skin (Lindsey).

That one African-American ref that showboats and dances every time he makes a call, especially charges (Teddy Valentine).

This video of Jamie Luckie giving a seminar on “The Craft of Officiating” is quite insightful: https://kentucky.forums.rivals.com/threads/jamie-luckie-and-kentucky.263353/page-2#post-6804184
He talks about Doug Shows “hitting” Coaches Cal and Billy D with technicals. Talks about mirroring calls. Also says no one remembers the first part of games but they remember the end, so that’s why we see some refs change the way they call a game in the last few minutes. Perhaps the most infuriating part is the admission that he was the difference between the “little guy” not getting humiliated (“Elon losing to Duke by 20 and not 40,” when in fact it was only by 13). Since when should referees have the power to favor one team over another? (Recall our awful final games in 2010 vs WVU and 2018 vs Kansas State?)
UK has seen this pattern over and over.

While Oscar earned his F1 foul it was obvious from the start until the final buzzer that A&M had a game plan to try to agitate Oscar to the point of getting tossed and at the very least picking up some cheap fouls. The first one 20 seconds into the game was a perfect example as was the one where the guy grabs O's arm and pulled it up to his throat and then fell like Oscar had elbowed him in the throat. Luckily the refs didn't call that one.
