Blaming others for your failures sure does cover up your own shortcomings. I am going to start taking this approach with my wife and boss and see how well this theory works in practice

Flopping on the court like you were shot by a sniper does cover up the inability to play legitimate defense. Maybe all players should play that way. What an entertaining game that would be!

Actually Shows wasn't near as bad as his other 2 partners.
I agree with you about Shows. He was very consistent the whole game. Steve Anderson was decent. But the older official who called the 5th foul on Travis and the bogus foul on KJ after he passed the ball to PJ for a wide open three. That should have been a no call or a blocking foul on Williams. He was terrible. We missed way too many free throws also.

Cats up 67-60 with momentum and the ball. Johnson drives, jump stops, passes out to PJ who drains a corner three. But no, UT flops with minimal contact and some ref thinks this is a great time to kill that momentum, calling an offensive foul against Johnson.

Could have been 70-60 with under 5 to go, but this opened it up for UT to pick away at the game, and the refs decided at that point that it was time to shut it all down.

A team like UT doesn't just explode for 18 points in under 3 minutes, especially not against a defense like Kentucky. One of these days I am going to graph the frequency of fouls in a 40 minute game to prove there are unusual, unexplained spikes in the fouls at certain times in the game. I would expect there to be some odd correlation appearing between scoring "comebacks" and foul frequencies against the team "choking".

Refs don't make the shots for the teams, but they do manipulate momentum and have the power to remove key players with foul trouble. Last night we saw that first hand.

As soon as they called that bs charge. I said we are in trouble. That was the nail in the coffin. Got stolen from us.

Don Daily.

He is not good. He is a flopaholic. Can't stop buying them.

Refs are human, so of course there is bias, whether conscious or unconscious. Calipari does not get the love from the officials. Coach K does. Whether any of it is deserved or not, I don't know. Higgins is definitely biased against UK; that 2017 UNC game was too obvious. Shows gets a lot of hate here, but I heard that he and Cal "made up" a few years ago. All fans see bias and hate refs.

Beyond the bias, what bothers me is how todays rules are written and interpreted. Charging. Hook and hold (got to be the worst rule ever). Flagrants, etc.... 5 minutes for monitor reviews when we all can tell what happened 30 seconds after the play. Kind of like the NFL and the quarterback rules. Too much interpretation on fouls, flagrants etc. Basketball is a physical sport, played by guys, some as big and strong as NFL players. I've started liking more NBA games, because they generally are more consistent and call it how I think it should be called. Block/Charge is a good example of the difference between NBA and NCAA.

Yeah, from the 2:58 mark Shows turned the ball over twice in a row against pressure high school guards could break. Shows gave up 3 wide open threes. Shows played like he has never seen a zone defense. Shows missed free throws. Yep, that Shows dude really screwed The Cats.
Hard to play defense, when this gets called. Plus dont refs get together before games..how is it the entire country knows William's flops, but it just blows refs minds and they cant figure it out

Yeah! We lead by 8 with 3 min. to go. I think it was an inside job. Need to take care of business!

And now you are down by twenty with 7 minutes to go against Auburn. And Doug Shows is working his *** off for you...

Oops...make that 16 with 3:30. Sucks for you.

Not caring about Shows but the block on Travis was a showdown between the other 2refs. They made a lot of the calls. The older fellow made a lot of the calls. Who Called the T?

That was Daily that made that call. Terrible call. Grant was moving forward when the contact occurred. Minimal contact. Should have been a no call or a block.

I've thought about doing the same. It's not so much the number of fouls as when they are and who they're called on.

11.15 in the second half aT was called on the U.K. bench. Never did hear who called the foul. Never to accuse a ref ofmissing a call but you missed this!! Lol

The block called on Travis was terrible, wrong. Williams was driving. Travis was backing up. Williams put his shoulder into Travis' chest knocking him back and down. That's called a charge 99% of the time. How many times has a charge been called on one of UK's players, and the announcers say yes, he put his shoulder into the defender's chest=charge, automatic. Except in this case. Wrong call, and either corrupt (biased) or incompetent. One ref was about to call a charge, but gave in to the block call.
