Myles completes his degree and goes into the portal and there is outrage about his loyalty from some. Douc heads to the portal having completed his degree, and there is celebration that he moved on and we have a free scholarship.

Asking those who questioned Myles, why not the same outrage when Mamadou goes to the portal?.

My take is that is the selfish sportsfan view purely from the view of these guys for their athletic entertainment they provide you.

i know many here have wished both well as painful as one on the announcements was from a fans point of view

First of all I think most understand myles’ decision (didn’t see too much “outrage”)

but does it REALLY surprise you when some people on a sports-related message might not be psyched when the teams MVP (arguably) leaves but then simply offer a “good luck” when a seldom-played reserve leaves? This surprises you?

No it doesnt surprise me at all. I am mostly pointing out the hypocrisy how the fans expect loyalty when a player is a star, and give none to players that aren't a star.

Lol Johnson leaving may be the cleanest break up in the history of transfers. Every message board/Twitter has their resident losers. The vast majority of comments have been respectful or positive. Hell half this board was basically telling Myles to go to Stanford.

Personally and IMO, I'm really happy for Douc getting an opportunity to find a new home where he can play the game he probably loves and has a passion for instead of sitting on a bench for 99% of the season. This may mean dropping down to a lower Conference, however, it's time he gets an opportunity to play basketball in the actual games and compete, and he can also continue his education. That's awesome news.

As for Myles, I'm sad and disappointed because he was such a critical and irreplaceable player for Rutgers and would have taken his game to a whole new level next year. However, I also understand that a Masters in Engineering is as important to him as basketball, and his dreams may include fantastic opportunities/experiences at a University closer to his home and parents/family. No matter what uniform he puts on next year, he's a young man that I'll always root for, albeit I'll probably watch less of on the screen if he decides to returns to the Pac 12.

I don't see the hypocrisy of this and selfishly believe my view above is what many in Rutgers Nation sees.

dont mean to pile on but I think the basic premise of your OP is off.

as a fanbase I think "Rutgers Nation" has taken the news of Myles transfer exceedingly well. as indicated above, the vast majority were very understanding and accepting.

considering Myles importance to this team I think the reaction of "Rutgers Nation" has been uncommonly civil.

youre always gonna have a few a'holes in every situation.

So your support of college sports is entirely altruistic? Trying to make sure I’m clear on the OPs starting point...

Big difference in my opinion btw Myles and Douc...and expressing more disappointment over losing a starter and key contributor vs someone who hardly played does not expose hypocrisy.

What the hell is OP talking about. He takes a cheap shot at douc and then wonders why people are more upset about Myles. The guy is a starter. Wake up.

There were a number of posters on her questioning his loyalty, on twitter some one tweeted at his dad saying his son wasnt loyal.
I know this place gets bad at times, but you can't compare us to Twitter.

Add me to the list of people asking what the hell the OP is talking about. I have not seen one post casting aspersions upon Myles. Some people just need something to ***** and moan about.

One was a starter the other played sparingly if at all. There is a B1G difference.Doesn’t mean he wasn’t loved but Doucore got a great free education .Not w he can play at the level of where his talents actually fall. D 1 or D2 smaller schools.

Who the hell is mad at Myles? I haven't seen that at all, and anyone who is, is an idiot. Myles is the man, a great representative of the university and just an all around awesome person. Anyone who has beef with him can go F themselves

Johnson should begin his MS at RU, play next season, then transfer to Stanford or wherever to complete the MS...That is the winning strategy. This strategy maximizes both academics and Basketball. Granted it may not be the ideal for a Pro career. But there is plenty of time for that (if that takes on greater importance than working as an Engineer).

Don’t recall anything bad about Myles and his choosing to move on in grad school.

I don't think Myles is irreplaceable. Great great kid. And it's a loss. But it remains to be seen how big a loss it is IMO. Too soon.

It was stated that Doucoure will graduate this summer. I am glad for him as hopefully he will get some real playing time at his new chosen school. It will be terrific that he will have a Rutgers degree. He was always supportive of everyone. I like garyc70 's comments. It would be nice if Myles spent one more year at RU as a grad student and than transferred but I am sure he will do what is best for him & his future. Either way I wish him well. He gave us 4 years at RU and was such a fine representative for RU in every way possible.

It was Doucore’s decision to leave - what does this have to do with loyalty - it’s not like the fans sent a petition to Pikiell demanding he take away his contract.
