Doucore: Will he leave?

Can’t understand it myself. I get it that he’s a good guy and easy to root for but Carter and Johnson are much better options to me...and they will be back next year.
Every player has a role. Pike is no dummy. Doorson is a big body and a solid rebounder
Because part of building a program is playing and respecting your seniors. It shows recruits that you care about them as well. And Doorson hasn't been awful, he's been really good defensively against some of the other big guys in the Big Ten too.
We can keep throwing players under the bus every 8 seconds.
Doorson is a much better post defender than Johnson at this point and has learned how to play without fouling constantly, an issue Johnson has struggled with. Johnson is much more skilled offensively but doesn't always show it and is a little too passive sometimes. Doorson has really been a positive contributor. Glad to finally see him healthy. He has earned his minutes - it's not charity.
Doorson's strength and size makes a lot of the better big guys around the league uncomfortable. They are clearly not used to being smaller. And note, Archie Miller specifically brought up how Indiana was challenged right at the rim last night. That was mainly Doorson.
Maybe on the defensive end for now. The Neb game he took 8 shots and looked to be a breakout game for him. The other three games or even the last two, he took 5 shots total and has more PF than points. Check out his pts per mins played, not productive, but neither are the other big guys. I hope he can develop a shot.
I am certainly no expert on bb talent, just think that he can make some fluid moves with the ball and play good defense
He is in hist first year of four, hope he gets stronger and more aggressive over time
I’m sure if he was made a free agent tomorrow the majority of our conference would find a ship for him in a heartbeat. He’s going to be a problem in this league as early as next year.

100%. The one’s who are good to go as freshman go to the factories, just like football.
Has nothing to do with throwing him under he bus. Nor does it mean he shouldn’t play. Of course, I’m not the coach and don’t know as much as Pike but neither do any of us posting their opinions. I would bet most people think Carter and Johnson should play more than Doorson.
Good Recruits also want to see that the best players get the most time. Playing because you are a senior is not as important as playing the best players.
His value is he can lean on opposing big men, an asset in the Big 10.
This is a case of misleading stats. Not disputing the percentages, but given our shooting woes, these guys should be taking a lot more shots. Let them take 10 shots each and see if they can make 5 or 6.
I would hope at least for this season, whoever takes the majority of shots can hit 40%. We don't have enough scorers to make up the difference.
Doorson's a solid rebounder and interior defender. He's also very hard to back down given his size, and hard to shoot over.
Johnson's going to be a great player here, but right now he's committing 6.0 fouls per 40 minutes on the court, which has gotten him into foul trouble. That's not unexpected as a freshman. Doorson's a little more cagey and has better control of his hands/arms on defense, which allows him to wall up underneath without getting called for as many fouls. If Johnson could defend like Doorson, he'd be seeing Doorson's minutes.

Agree. In fact I'd go so far as to say that he's improved more this year compared to last than any other player , including Eugene. In addition, by all accounts he's a very fine ambassador for the program. When you talk about building the right culture for your program , you think of guys like Eugene and Shaq.
Perhaps the reason Doorson starts is to give Johnson a feel for the game while not picking up fouls in the process. Pikell has always emphasized that picking a starting five is not important to him.
