Anyone doing this? Where does it stop? Wouldn't 3 be better than 2?

I think we should all start wrapping ourselves up like mummies. No more covid. No more skin cancer. No more racism. No more ugly-shaming.

Most people are just ignoring the maskholes now, I suggest doing the same. Wear it if the business requires it, other than that, they can 17 themselves.

Might want to use black wrapping. Wearing black makes you look thinner. This could help with the fat shaming.

One for me. Got my 2nd shot of Moderna last Friday. Hopefully that and a mask where required will do the job.

Yesterday I was driving through a park and I saw a lady wearing a mask walking her dog. She had to be 100 yards away from the nearest person other than me and I was still a good 20 yards away in my truck.

Some people just want to live in fear I guess.

I'll one-up you. I was hiking in the mountains and there were people up there with a mask who would turn away from you when you met them on a trail. One other guy had a face shield on as well.

I can't really tell if these people just believe everything the media tells them, they are simply stupid, or they are just forwarding an agenda.

I am.

Since this release came out shortly after I got my first shot, I began double masking because I’ve gone 11 months being more anti-social than I typically am and I don’t want to get this mess (over 30 BMI with elderly relatives) if I can help it.

I’ve since gotten my second shot and am 9 days away from being as immune to it as I can be. I figure a little inconvenience way more than outweighs catching this...

You gotta go 3 masks bro. Get like 6 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine and then cover your entire head in N95s.

Maximum safety.

So, I'm gonna say something that'll probably be unpopular with the mask nazi crowd here. One of my very best friends is a Cardiologist of almost 30 years. An expert in nuclear medicine. And a bulldog. He tells me that the virus simply does not travel like the politicians and political appointee scientists want you to think it travels. It's not a liquid droplet that comes out of your mouth or nose and curves down and hits the floor. It's a lighter than air aerosol, and floats to someone it infects. He said, "put on your mask. now put on your reading glasses. What happens?" "they fog up, right?" Correct. "Well, where do you think that air goes when your reading glasses aren't on?" "it floats out the top, side, bottom of masks and floats to the next person it infects through those same openings in their mask or masks. Whether that be their tear ducts, nose, or mouth." The only mask that would protect you or others around you is a respirator mask that seals to your face.

I wouldn't, but I wear my doubled up neck gaiter everywhere. Two reasons:

It's more comfortable since all the loose fabric isn't turtlenecking and I read this a while back from a Virginia Tech study:

"Notably, when the single-layer gaiter was doubled, it blocked more than 90% of all particles measured. By comparison, a homemade cotton T-shirt mask, recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, blocked about 40% of the smallest particles."

I still get masked shamed a little bit as the neck gaiter gets a bad wrap from idiots. But since October when I went full time gaiter I have moved across the country, done everything you can imagine except live sports and concerts, and just last week I caught 4 seperate flights and sat in a classroom with 30 people for training. No antibodies as of a few weeks ago and no rona yet. I guess it works.

It's become a personal challenge now. I figure I am about 2-3 months from getting a vaccine. I will be pissed if I get rona now. It's a quest...

I think you're all 17ed in the head! We're ten weeks from 17ing herd immunity and you want to bail out. Well I'll tell you something, this is no longer a pandemic, it's a quest. It's a quest for avoiding the rona. I'm gonna wear a mask and you're gonna wear a mask , we're all gonna wear so many 17ing masks we'll need plastic surgery to remove masks from our GD smiles! You'll be whistling Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah out of your ******** the day you take off the mask for good! I gotta be crazy; I'm on a pilgrimage to the maskless party! Praise Marty Mask! Oh, ****! Don't touch. ****

I wear 1 mask. Still trying to find a 2ply that that works well when exercising/playing sports...they all suck in when I breathe in hard. Never figured I would have bought a dozen different types of 17ing masks to find the best one, but here we are.

I dont plan to wear 2 masks, but I wont mock anyone that chooses to wear one. If they want to further protect those around them, why would I mock that?

I certainly respect your opinion and point-of-view but I think 2 masks is just a little much. So much of the COVID stuff is in the gray area of somewhat subjective and somewhat reasonable but I think 2 masks goes a little outside that realm.

It's weird. Have family friends that were just bragging on facebook about picking up food and eating it in the car for their anniversary date night. No preexisting conditions that I'm aware of. Healthy kids. Or they were healthy. Been locked down with basically just their parents for almost a year now. NOt sure how that's affected them although they're young enough it's probably ok.

Just weird to see them advertising how freaked out they are. It's like a relative that basically brags about how mentally unstable they are because of trump. They honestly think they are virtue signalling talking about how they are crying thinking about Trump being president or whatever the latest atrocity McConnel has committed rather than just broadcasting that they are mentally unstable.

Of course maybe they have a preexisting condition that justifies their freakout and they were honestly excited to be away from their kids to eat dinner, although I wonder what they required of the babysitter to prove to them they weren't messing up their quarantine too much.

Is your buddy saying covid isnt in the liquid that is trapped by a mask and is only in the particles that escape from gaps in the mask?
It seems like covid would be in ALL the breath moisture- that which gets trapped in a mask and also that which escapes the mask. And if thats the case, then a mask is reducing the amount that is getting into the air.

A mask clearly isnt perfect. It isnt a 100% fix. But it sure seems like it is doing something beneficial. Is your buddy really saying there is literally no benefit and that all the covid in someone escapes around a mask?

Are they freaked or are they just cautious and dont find the idea of eating in a restaurant appealing right now?
Within your story, them deciding to declare they are eating in the car on Facebook is whats really odd to me.

If you’re really concerned about spreading covid, you shouldn’t be playing sports. Playing sports with a mask is worse than not playing sports. So stay your *** at home.

Remember, this is about you and your crusade, so don’t come back talking about how I’m telling you to stay home. I’m just pointing out your brazen hypocrisy.

I think that if people are generally opposed to something, they define undesirable solutions "working" as 100% effective. At least that seems to be the implied sentiment with most anti-maskers. Makes no sense to me as few/no things in life are 100% perfect or 100% broken.

I think that is the point he’s trying to make. Why go on Facebook declaring you’re too scared to eat in a restaurant? And my guess is virtue signaling. You can tell everyone how much of a sacrifice you’re making to beat covid.

I’ve had both doses and have taken a similar approach to masking and the public reaction is not good. One of the most common reactions from those that have been compelled to confront me is that we should all be wearing masks even after we’ve been inoculated.

Basically the last 12 months have created such a high level of fear in our communities that a large portion of our population has convinced themselves that we should be masking in public foreva.

And not only permanent masking but that you’re an ******* if you don’t comply.

This is really no different than the mask police criticizing people for not wearing a mask. If you wanna wear a mask or 12 mask fine. If you don’t want wear a mask fine. I don’t understand why everyone can’t just let other people do what they want and shut up about it.

People can choose to go around licking doorknobs. I know two RNs who have worked Covid-19 units for the past 9 months. Neither has contracted the virus. Maybe they are both just lucky. But they strongly believe that it's bc they wash their hands frequently, wear a face shield and yes, double mask. I also know a few new hanks that didn't believe in wearing mask. Do as you please!

Because over 2.3 million people have died from Covid in less than a year and because they've asked us to wear masks and social distance. What's your threshold before you'd inconvenience yourself with a mask? Half a billion? More? 2 billion people need to die before you'll wear a mask? Just curious. Everyone has a threshold I'd assume.

I think you are exactly correct on this.

There are two main benefits to the mask. One it does trap some of the droplets. Two is does lower the exit velocity and diffuse some of your breath. So your plume is smaller and less concentrated. Those combine reduce the viral load an infected person distributes. One virus doesn't make you sick. It takes enough exposure that you get enough in you and they can replicate enough before your immune system can kick them out to make you sick.

The other problem is doctors started a lot of the sanitation protocols about the same time. So we do know for example, that surgical outcomes are vastly improved if the surgeons and staff wear a mask, wash their hands, and disinfect the wound and the operating room. What we don't know is how much each protocol contributes. And it would be unethical to conduct those experiments.

How many of those 2.3 million people were avid mask wearers? How many were from countries in the world, or areas of this country that had strict mask mandates?

The science suggests that masks don't prevent or even slow the spread of covid. I have heard this from many doctors and pharmacists.

But by all means, keep being a liberal idiot and blaming people's deaths on some dude who dares to not put a diaper on his face.
