Brooks and Nick each with double doubles in their latest summer league games. 12 and 11 for Brooks and 12 and 10 for Nick. Nice production from our guys, though both in losing efforts.

Nick worked pretty hard on D last night, missed some bunnies and easy putbacks, and his pass recipients failed to make the easy buckets as well. The refs seriously swallowed their whistles in the first quarter as the Lakers mugged the absolute crap of the Clippers. It's hard to score or even dribble when a guy has hold of both your arms and pulls you backwards...

The OKC team seems legit terrible. Aday is definitely a long term project and currently looks like a first round bust to me. Early days, but if OKC wants a guy who can score 10 points and 9 or 10 rebounds a game in about 20 minutes, they already have Brooks.

Yeah, the NBA teams have benched their stud draft picks, so Nick's playing against G League competition. He also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, zero turnovers - and of course was never fouled.

I suspect Brooks will kill it tonight for similar reasons.

The only "channel" I have access to for these games is Prime, and I've been pretty lucky with Clippers/Bulls/Thunder games. Right now, I'm watching Sanjay's Hawks gets roasted by the Grizzlies :-(

Boo had 19 minutes and 12 points, and he went 5/5 on free throws and 0/5 from three. Two rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

edit: ESPN has the Bulls and the Clippers tomorrow, and I think that's it for NU players. The Summer League playoffs start on Saturday, but our guys all have at least two losses, so they're pretty much out of contention. I think.

Nick had another hyper efficient night as the Clippers pissed away a great lead in the fourth quarter, but won in overtime. Trey Kaufman Renn came off the bench for Minn. and seems to be good enough for the G league. I'm not sure he's a two way contract kid yet.

He doesn't move like anyone else I have ever seen. His unconventional movement has to make him hard to guard.

I never hated the Clippers… or any pro NBA team. But now I have a reason to cheer for them.

The Thunder too.

It’d be pretty sweet to see a Cat get an NBA ring. We have plenty of football players who won super bowl rings… but none with the NBA “chip” as the kids say.

Hard to take away a lot when watching these games or looking at box scores. The guys playing in these games are largely guys who won’t be on NBA rosters. Especially after the first game or two.

They are generally the cream of the G League's standard and two way contract players. A step above starter NCAA talent and a step below NBA bench talent. Now Nick has three years to play himself onto an NBA bench. It will be really interesting this season seeing if he can be a consistent scorer in the NBA.

I’d love to just see him get to spend consistent time on the NBA roster. The clippers should be in a lot of lopsided games so he will have chances if he can be on the bench.

The NBA seems really inconsistent with contracts, but I believe his Summer League performance guaranteed he keeps his two way contract. Based on that, he should get to be on their bench for dozens of games and play some decent bench minutes in many of them. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he does.

I went to a G League game last year. Only one I ever went. Thought the product was incredibly poor. If you think there's not a ton of defense in 3 of 4 quarters of the NBA regular season, you ain't see nothing yet.

What I'm saying is that I believe Nick will score a lot in the G league.

When I think about the G League, I think of it as a place full of players who are on constantly competing for a real job at the next level and assistant coaches trying out various plays and ideas in a live event and also advertising for a promotion. I'm not expecting sound, fundamental basketball - and to your point, I'm rarely surprised. It seems to me that most of the guys in the league got there by being high volume shooters in college

What I generally look for is how well are the players, that interest me, executing individually on both ends and in transition. Are they making the right choices, good passes, solid body position, setting up plays, being assertive, etc. When they're playing well, I enjoy watching the games. Now, I've never been to one and have no idea what the experience is like at the arena itself. I bet you get great seats!

To your point, the arena environment did not help. The Noblesville arena is new, but low attendance made it a very cold environment. Game was not close from mid 3rd quarter, teams were playing back to back, so that did not help either. Great seats though, you are right.

I was expecting more defense. That's all. Seems like the effort on the players side was only on offense. Felt like I was watching pick up basketball.

My wife, who could not care less about sports, did not like it either. Her take was that it never felt like a competition, that everyone was just showing up for their shift.
