It is great to see Shaq healthy and contributing at a high level. He was very good today. On the other side of the spectrum there’s Souf. By all accounts he’s a great teammate and a good kid, but he does not look at all like he has Big 10 talent. The fact that Pike had to take him out and put Corey back in with 2 fouls in the first half speaks volumes. We will be in deep sh@t in conference play whenever our starting guards get in foul trouble if Souf can’t give 10 good minutes off the bench.

Was talking about this last game. Shaq looks more mobile than he has in the past. Plus he is holding onto the ball.

He was definitely a plus contributor in this game. Hopefully he continues to stay healthy and effective.

Yes he messed up the last possession in 1st half, but he did find Issa for one of his 3s.

As I said after last game.....
1. Souf has to play
2. Zone has to be defense

2 questionable Pike moves at the end of 1st half (hindsight 20/20)

1. Why not put Sanders in game with 32 seconds left with us dribbling the clock down. Yes he could have charged and got his 3rd.
2. Why put Souf in for Baker with 8 seconds left in 1st. Does he see Souf as the better defender?

Our bench was really celebrating when Shaq scored or got a rebound. He looked very good today.

Shaq slams are more than welcomed.

But let’s ease up on Souf, and start getting behind him.

I pull for anyone who wears the RU jersey. I’m just calling his play on the court as I see it. I hope he can transform himself into a Big 10 contributor, but nothing about his JUCO tape, his JUCO stats or his limited playing time thus far this season suggests that he will. The kid is a junior not a freshman. I was just hoping for more because of his maturity.

Oops this thread is about Doorson and I responded to Souf comment.

Shaq is easy to root for and gave a lot of energy. Quite a few possessions kept a live that won't show on the box score with his tap outs.

I think ECU starting center looked pretty skilled. Not sure how much, if any, Shaq was on him. I don't recall Shaq having any defensive lapses. There was one that I am not sure about, but I think it might have been Freeman's fault.

Shaq even made FTs

Understood. Honestly, more directed at the other thread that looks like it has been deleted. Regardless, we are going to need some decent minutes from him - rooting for the guy.

On your second question - maybe because Baker just turned the ball over after dribbling out the clock in the corner? Was my only guess at that point.

As far as Shaq - awesome day today. Glad to see him healthy and playing well. Was really hoping he'd get another offensive putback for a double double.

Will this game be on replay at anytime soon?
I was at the game with my Granddaughter and we had seats behind the bench. I want her to see “ us”...

Shaq was great today. Seems to have transformed his body and has some spring in his jump now. Pretty good foot movement on D too. Plus confidence and killer instinct is building. He will be an asset in league games this year.

He put in souf there for baker because baker had a foul and Corey had two and didn't want to risk baker getting a second foul and having both starting guards with two

Thought that was a good move

Shaq's progress is allowing the staff to hopefully buy another 12 months of strength conditioning and acclimation for Myles Johnson AND forces Luke Nathan to be ready to go in, as the 4th big for some spots....I like what we've seen out of Doorson and if you are getting this much out of him physically, the next 2-3 months will be good steps forward. I'd like to assume he stays for a 5th season on the banks, based on the progress made the last couple of games.

Will be interesting to see how many 2nd shots he can add for RU against FSU, Minny and MSU, assuredly the top 3 teams in size/strength and footspeed up front for a stretch of games that will test him, Sa, Freeman and Doucoure.

Physically, Shaq has enough size, athleticism and skill to at least compete with opposing bigs in our conference.

The next phase of his development is psychological. We saw some of that development today in the form of confidence and aggressiveness.

He appears to be separately himself from Sa for playing time Or maybe Pikiell just needed to get him on the court and Sa's minutes were taken from him out of necessity. I think we will need Duke, Doorson and Sa to split those 40 minutes at the 5 spot in a lot of conference games.......I am not sure how many remaining games we can play Eugene and Freeman together up front.

Loved Shaq's energy and how he got everyone one into the game with his rebounds and MONSTER JAMS!
