Good to hear. Listening to KSR and Jones just said he may have some interesting basketball scoop. Said he is trying to verify it before saying what it is.

First thing that came to mind was Allen...

Love Allen even tho his shot is in a slump rn. We all know he can shoot...we’ve seen it.

With that said, he needs to decide if a potential D.Willis role his senior year is ok w him or if he wants to be a starter for 2 years. If he’s not willing to be a role player as a senior then he should go to Butler or X or somewhere

Would be a good fit. Honestly may be his best chance at pro ball (overseas or NBDL/GLeague). He needs minutes to get comfortable and develop at this point and if the UK program is healthy he likely won’t get more than 15 min a game here ever.

He has POTENTIAL. He needs to be trained one on one for speed, agility and strength. He will have to want it for any of that to take place. Once that gets accomplished, he can be coached up for a higher level of defense and creating a shot. Those are the improvements that will land him in a good spot at Kentucky or somewhere else. He’s not there yet. It’s up to him.

He's now likely shooting sub 20% on the season. He's last in the rotation and will only get mop up minutes at UK. He needs to move on or be content and collect his NIL money.

At this point I honestly just feel sorry for him. If you want to keep getting PT then you have to make a shot, eventually.

This. He needs to get stronger and really work on lateral quickness. He just can’t seem to get one to fall.

At what point can we stop calling it a slump and admit the truth? The word “slump” implies a deviation from the norm. But, for Allen, bad shooting has been the norm and good shooting the deviation.

He’s been in the program for nearly three years now (counting his redshirt year). During that time, he’s had two really good shooting games (both against Mississippi State), but shot poorly in nearly all the rest of his games. That doesn’t describe a slump, instead it just describes a poor shooter.

We did the same thing here with guys like Jon Hood and Josh Carrier. Posters kept insisting they were just in a slump …well, turned out to be four year slumps that never ended.

That’s where I’m at. Just feeling bad for him. His first shot today couldn’t have been set up any better. Perfect pass, wide open, and time to square up. Then it went down and spun out. You could see the look on his face after the shot. The guys on the bench looked the same way. Everyone wants this kid to get going, but after that first miss he was never close again. Our fan base has put a ton of undue pressure on this kid and you can see it in his face. Everyone else out there having fun in a blowout, but he can’t even smile. That’s sad.

He got plenty of minutes in the 2nd half and just couldn't hit a shot, even when left wide open. I'm afraid we may have seen the best he has and he is doomed to be a lower end bench guy as long as he decides to remain at UK. I always pull for him but he just doesn't seem to have it. He looks lazy and lost on defense and just doesn't look comfortable at all on the court on either end. With the guys coming in next year, possible returnees and adding CJ, his time will only diminish next year too.

No issue with his NIL Contract ...... its apparently with a brick company!! LOL

Seriously, I love the kid but he's pressing, not playing right now. He's in a bad place mentally and Dontae is the only one that can solve that. Cal is just being honest with him. "If you're hitting, you're not helping us." Some other players can bring something else. Mintz is a good example. He's been in a slump, but he defends, rebounds, and attacks the basket (until today not always successfully). That also means he gets to the FT line and affects the game. Right now, Dontae is either hitting jump shots or is not hitting jump shots. No impact.

Get a floor burn, bloody your nose, bloody someone else's nose!

Allen can’t throw it in the ocean right now, which will only make him more uncomfortable. When he comes in he should play his *** off on defense, diving for loose balls, rebounding, then the game will come to him more naturally and he can take some pressure off his shooting. Or lack there of.
