I see former Lincoln Northstar Gator Donovan Williams has entered the transfer portal. Played hoops for Oklahoma state. Hasn’t done much but is a former 4 or 5 star if I remember correctly. Do we or would Fred want him ?

hope so but i'm not confident. the way things broke down and ended 1.5 years ago doesn't lead me to think so.

Played 10 minutes a game and averaged 3 points per game this year at OSU. Hard pass.

Did he not commit to Miles, then when Miles got canned reopen his recruitment? Not sure Fred spent much effort to reel him back on board back then, suspect his/Matt’s evaluation hasn’t changed much.

He is one to at least think about. My guess, though, is that bridge is burned. He didn't de-commit the minute Miles was fired. By appearances, it looked like both Williams and Hoiberg had time to consider each other. My guess is that Fred didn't see him as the kind of player he wanted.

Not getting Sallis, Traudt, Hepburn, or Green are what stings.

Can he defend? If Trey doesn't come back there's a need for a guy who can set the tone defensively on the perimeter. But... I'm gonna guess he's not a Hoiberg fan.

From what I heard Matt didn't recruit him (and Fred doesn't recruit) so yeah, maybe they evaluated him. Not sure. But I am sure he's better than some of the guys we have now. 4 star recruit, scored 50 and 44 in back to back games. He did have a major knee injury that slowed him down. And we'll be losing a lot of players again next year so there will be openings but I doubt very much that they consider him.
