They don’t put this publicly unless it really is Hobbs

You are kidding right? This entire negotiation has been Sxhiano and his minions against Hobbs who is looking out for the University. But what the HELL let's overpay a mediocre coach and just like the last go round put a freeze on any other improvements either athletically or academically until said coach gets everything he "needs" because the planned facilities wouldn't be good enough or go up fast enough.

So where is the actual story with quotes from these donors. Or is it the Schiano minions at the Star Ledger and NJ.com kicking and screaming for their idol

Trouble is the donut above him is 0 for 2 in AD hires. So we can't trust Hobbs to make a competent decision on a football coach and we can't trust Barchi to make a competent decision on an AD. The fish rots from the head.

He really looked out for us with Ash. But why let the facts get in the way.

I’d settle for a mediocre coach at this point.

My expectations are so low that I breathe a little sigh of relief with every first down.

You are right why let facts get in the way. Ash was hand picked by Brown and rubber stamped by Hobbs when he was hired....How else was he hired so quickly. Donations as a whole and infrastructure are better than at any time in our history.

Yes, all those shiny new buildings near the stadium & RAC...that are not football facilities. Maybe a lacrosse Final Four and a Women's Swimming Championship will help pay for a non-inflatable Football Field House.

Hobbs is finding out the well has run dry, both the well of money from the donors, and the well of goodwill from the fanbase.

Today is the day we must let our voices be heard. Send emails and make phone calls. Encourage others who have tickets and donate to do the same. It may not change anything, but we have to try. If the top donors say they are out and the fan base overall does the same, it becomes impossible to ignore.

I cant wait for Hobbs to be let go (my guess he will be allowed to step down this week) and what say...Brown becomes interim AD. Yup then he and Schiano complete this deal at any cost. What I am interested in is how many years we will be paying him after he is gone. Unless he finally get another coaching offer and runs again. I do not see him being here for 8 yrs. I also do not see him getting above mediocrity any faster than previously for a few reasons. First and foremost dumbing down the schedule will take a few years. Recruiting will take one year according to all those that remember all those 9 wins years from his previous stay. Should be interesting

You are right the man steps into his position and should stand to a big donor who is on the board that he has to get everything approved through Wonder how that would work for him....OH Never mind we see it happening now as Brown has led the fight for Schiano too

So, first big decision on the job and he passes. Great hire. Keep spinning.

You are right I am making this up. Just ignore me. You are just like those at NJ.com Cant be anyone but Hobbs that is wrong. And Not a shot it could be Saint Schiano overreaching. Enjoy your day
I think Schiano overreached BUT how did Hobbs let this negotiation drag out for so long with nearly the entire fan base (including the big donors) salivating over the return of Greg only to come up short? I don’t see how Hobbs survives this long term and if that’s the case, he shouldn’t be making the hire.

I understand your point but you should take a look in the mirror because you described yourself if you replaceD the word Hobbs with GS in your post.

I dont believe he did drag it out. I believe he worked out a compromise of some kind. Sounds like BoG was not on board been hearing for at least a week they didn't have the votes. I am guessing the 6 yr offer and 8 yr demand that was supposedly shot down without going to the board was because he knew the Board would say no anyway. It is the way big business works You dont take anything to vote you know doesn't have a chance to pass

They have direct quotes from Dolan and that is not good enough for you?
People don't actually read very well, so here's the excerpt from the article:

"As the Rutgers athletics director of fundraising earlier this decade, Doug Dolan helped broker six-figure donations and was instrumental in a privately funded initiative to launch the Scarlet Knights’ online streaming network. As the president of the Rutgers Touchdown Club, Dolan sparked grassroots interest in the football program and raised money that directly supported the team.

Dolan has multiple Rutgers degrees, and he says “some of the proudest moments of my life’’ involved attending Scarlet Knights football games as a season-ticket holder for 35 years.

On Sunday, shortly after negotiations to bring back Greg Schiano as the Scarlet Knights football coach ended without a deal, Dolan sent a simple two-word email to Rutgers’ current fundraising team:

“I’m done,’’ it read.

“I’m giving up my tickets. I’m giving up all my giving. And I’m taking Rutgers out of my will,’’ Dolan told NJ Advance Media. “We’re really in a bad situation with the football program. And while it is possible that someone else over time can fix it, Greg is the only person who knows what needs to be done. He’s done it in New Jersey and he would’ve immediately put fans back in the seats, which would start to turn the football program’s bleeding financial fortunes around. Whoever they turn to I hope he is successful; I don’t wish anyone failure. But anybody other than Greg coming into this situation I don’t think will have any clue what they’re in for.’’

Dolan wasn’t alone in his disappointment that the reunion between Rutgers and Schiano failed to materialize. NJ Advance Media interviewed nearly a dozen boosters, fans, and former players who said they planned to protest — with their wallets — Rutgers’ inability to come to terms with the coach who took the Scarlet Knights to six bowl games in his final seven years before departing for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012.

“I have heard from no less than 10 big donors and supporters who are canceling tickets and pledges for gifts, some changing their estate bequest language to remove Rutgers,'' one Rutgers insider said. "It’s really bad.''"

Hobbs had one job. Get Schiano to sign on the line that is dotted. If Greg was overreaching, he needed to find the common ground necessary to get the deal done, not draw a line in the sand and walk away. It's clear there was no plan and no sense of urgency. Hobbs has lost the donors, alumni and fan base. He has to go.

I sent emails to Hobbs, Barchi and the BOG, expressing my extreme displeasure and making it clear that my 12 season tickets, modest donations, and my potential major donation to the chemical eng'g dept. at RU (a $50K endowed scholarship) are now all at risk (the academic one is at much less risk, but Barchi doesn't need to know that) if we don't reconsider and find a way to hire Schiano. I know it's not millions, but if hundreds to thousands feel the same way it'll be many millions in future lost revenue to athletics and even academics.
