Yeah I saw them planning all that ahead of time. Baseball and soccer are doing it better with a quick kneel during silence.

Respectful and non controversial

It was sickening to see. I expect the NFL to do the same thing, perhaps not as widespread.

You missed a couple of great games with excellent final seconds.

Though since you are done, I guess you didn't miss them.

Oh well. I'm happy more basketball is on. The TBT was a lot of fun to watch and this NBA mini-season has the makings to be super entertaining.

The Giants and As had players kneeling their first games back. I guess you’re done with baseball too.

Very hard to stomach it. Goes against what I believe in and common sense/reason but damn I miss sports. Was my first shot at it but I had to change the channel last night. May go back though. Like an ex where you know it is a bad choice but the phone rings late night and it’s hard to say no.

So dramatic. Tell us how your great granmas lost her girlfriend due to disentangle tits, during a simulated 17 basketball game at Disney with robots and FaceTime ultra court sided seating*** to war torn air raid of cameras**

All just Knelt during national anthem. At least we have baseball.

Some baseball players knelt too. So, I guess you don’t have anything.

I think you’re going to have a hard time moving forward if you only partake in events or associate with people that think exactly like you.

If you hate the violence in protests that we’ve seen, you should be supportive of a non-violent demonstration.

You guys are really in a tough spot. You hate black people having a voice, but want to watch them perform. If only there was an institution where they did what you wanted, but didn’t have the right to say anything else...

Athletes kneeling for anthem unforgivable because it's disrespectful to service members, veterans, and those who have given there lives for our country? Am I missing anything?

What if they come out and say it's not about that and made big donations to veterans groups or something?

Just curious if there is a way for people to get over this over time.

There are things I draw a line in the sand for and I can't forgive too.

No, I don't hate black people having a voice, but I don't want to watch them (or their white team mates) play any more. They can get real jobs as far as I am concerned.

I have no issue with anyone voicing their opinion. My only issue is doing it during what should be a unifying moment...saluting our nation. We're not perfect, but nothing is. These protests are going to lead to 2 results and only 2 results. 1) more division 2) apathy

I hope people that feel disenfranchised find more palatable ways to bridge this conversation. I also hope the other side can become more receptive. Right now it feels like someone is trying to put the square peg in the circle hole with a sledgehammer.

I’m not a veteran, so my opinion on this probably does not matter too much. I don’t like the kneeling personally. I can completely understand why/how it would be offensive. But all my friends that are veterans (mostly fought in Afghanistan) say that they fought for freedom, not just ideals they personally agree with.

While I don’t personally like the kneeling, I’m damn glad we have the right in America to do it. And to me it only amplifies the value of the freedoms that have been fought for not diminishes them.

Wrong. Millions of whites people were worshiping black athletes until they started Shitting on the traditions of this country.

I'm with you 100%. I'm exercising my right to not watch any sport where the kneeling takes place. If State players start doing it I'll be done with them as well. I'm a Christian first and American second.

I gave up the NBA about 25 years ago. But I'm fine with people exercising their free speech rights and others exercising theirs to turn it off.

I never watched NBA anyway, so it doesn't impact me. However, if I was a fan their actions would nip my fandom in the bud. I tuned in just for a few minutes of the New Orleans game last night and noticed they had electronic fans - a step above the cardboard cutouts that MLB has. And the piped in crowd noise sounded almost real.

I’m not sure I get the connection between Christianity and speaking out against racial injustice. I mean I get why Christians should speak out against injustice, but not why it would prevent you from supporting that.

they are athletes. just like musicians are musicians. i don't pay for their opinion. i pay for them to play 17ing ball. Entertain me with your athleticism. i don't want your opinion if it agrees with mine or not. i pay for sport, you play sport, i am entertained. period. a lot of other countries, if that were happening, would snipe that ***. play the sport i pay you to play or flip burgers. your choice. i don't care what you choose, but choose wisely.

Dude go 17 yourself! Without using the actual word you just called most of as

us racist, which this day is about the worst label you can give a person. Riddle me this, do you have one shred of evidence that all this collective kneeling has done anything to help their actual causes? Has it had one positive effect and accomplished anything besides the furthering divide in the country.

They certainly have the right to "protest" as they please. But, doing this they are stating that they hate the country that has made them financially wealthy for playing a child's game. I have the right to spend my entertainment money elsewhere.

If I buy a ticket to a broadway show, and an Asian performer gets on stage to talk about her pro-life stance for 30 minutes, would you also jump to the conclusion that an audience member hates that Asian people have voices if they were to walk out?

Maybe some posters on here do despise the sheer fact that African Americans are being heard today louder than ever, I don’t know. But at the end of the day, I think the larger opinion is simply that they’d be much better served doing it on their own time. Few want to hear about Steve Kerr’s thoughts on global warming, Marc Gasol’s view on abortion, or yes... athletes’ views on social justice when fans are spending valuable time and/or money to be entertained by a ballgame. It’s not always about race, and if leagues decide to start mixing politics with entertainment, they shouldn’t be surprised when some start walking out

Do you even try to make sense with your provocations? Have you considered yourself racist by alluding that only blacks play sports or that only blacks kneeled? I get it. You’re trying to achieve 61 status without driving like Mamaw.

I’m going to see where this goes. For me, MLB did a nice job with emphasizing their support during the opening games, and then getting back to baseball after that point. I personally thought it was the right way handle it, because no matter who I might agree or disagree with, we’re not seeing an onslaught of political statements in MLB on a daily basis

With the NBA, I do expect it to be a bit different because there are so many players deeply ingrained in current affairs, but I’m gonna give it a chance to see how things evolve. If some players continue to kneel, but I feel like the NBA is making a concerted effort to shift focus back to its actual product, I won’t have any issue with it. However, if two weeks from now we’re continuing to get social justice during the pre-game, social justice on Inside the NBA, and social justice post game, then I’ll have to concede that the NBA is no longer solely in the entertainment industry

I understand both sides of the debate here but I don't see the passionate need to boycott anything. The conduct of the players is a direct reflection on themselves and their own behavior. I'm more passionate about the NBA's defense of China and refusal to call out civil rights abuses there because of the financial impact, mostly because it makes their social justice protests disingenuous. I guess ultimately, I support their right to express themselves however they feel is necessary, as long as they support someone else's right to disagree with them, and they are consistent in their outrage at atrocity (whether perceived or real) in the world.
