No doubt it'll be a big game for both teams. I'm not ready to guarantee us a win yet though ... "Don" can be good when he wants to be ... but he does indeed seem to collapse under pressure. Of course, at Florida, he's not thinking about or searching for his next job, so he can pay attention to what he's doing.

Guaranteed. We aren't losing that game. Every player has that game circled. It's personal for many of them.

Mullen's original point: It will be a big game in the sense that Jeff Simmons is foaming at the mouth so much that Felipe Franks may not make it to halftime. But it won't be a particularly competitive game, and it won't make the top 25 list of "biggest games in Mississippi."

He’s completely full of ****. The Auburn game that propelled us to #1 makes this Florida game look like the fly on a dog’s ***. Typical Mullens ********.

This all day. I have a lot of hate in my heart over that 17ing 2014 Egg Bowl that’ll never be forgiven and it’s at Mullen and the coaching staff. I was so pissed off after the game I went on a 3 Mile walk in 20 degree weather in Sevierville, TN on Thanksgiving Vacation. I don’t even know if I wore a jacket.

I got news for you Dan. It's a hell of a lot bigger game for you than us. In fact from here on out you're coaching to save your job EVERY week... you arrogant prick.

That would be true unless Notre Dame or Penn State fires their coaches early in the season. Then his attention would be elsewhere.

Well, just this fall, the Auburn and Mississippi games will be bigger. Don trying to pump his team up, but this is just another routine win for us.

If it's not a record crowd, it won't be far behind. We have a chance to be undefeated with arguably our best team ever against a team who hired away our coach and the way he left was very bad.

I'm not saying it's the biggest game in Mississippi ever, but it has the potential to be up there considering what's all potentially at stake as it relates to this team's success.

It's his way of preparing UF fans for a let down. When he was at State and he played Bama or LSU, it was, "Welllllll, they got 20 5stars on their bench!" (they don't)

A record, or near-record crowd won't necessarily mean it's one of the biggest games ever. It just means a lot of people are pissed over how he left things and want to come and watch him get his *** beat.

As far as "big games," if we have the kind of team we think and hope we have, there will be three or four games on the schedule bigger than the Florida game next year. Florida is going to struggle to be bowl eligible.

Yeah, probably some truth in that. Notre Dame, maybe; but Franklin is doing a good job at Penn State so probalby will be there as long as he wants to be, unless he manages to screw up. I don't think they'd fire him to get Mullen.

Hell, I can't remember many losses to UF in Starkville

with the exception of the game he coached us.

Franklin's record at PSU:
With Joe Moorhead - 22-5 (15-3)
Without Joe Moorhead - 14-12 (6-10)
The bad record is also his first two years after he took over a program on probation. Good coaches tend to be able to attract/hire good coordinators to replace the ones they lose

Your point is really not valid, unless you also count his Vandy time, because that helps formulate an opinion on what he might do in the future

And he almost blew a big lead over LSU by taking his foot off the gas too early. In the end, we were fortunate to win that game.

Had something like 4th and 67 at one point in the pommeling ('99 or 2000ish). That was eclipsed year before last at LaTech, maybe 4th and 90, but it's still a memorable game. It was a beautiful day too as I recall ... mid-50s and deep blue skies.

We should win it but mullins has proven he can scheme very well for isolated games and he has the added advantage of knowing our strengths and weaknesses very well.

Plus we have that game sandwiched in between a road game at UK and another huge game vs Auburn.

No doubt there were some extenuating circumstances when he took over the job. But, it's too early to say that he's just going to keep the last 2 years going without the architect of that great offense. Remember, when he was hired, he inherited a star FR QB who was coming off a very good FR season, and that QB regressed during his 2 years under Franklin. I'm not saying he's a 7-6 coach at PSU. But I'm not convinced he's an 11-2 coach without Moorhead either.

His point is actually right ON point, if you dig a little deeper. W-L records can be attributed to multiple things, like effects of probation, talent level, etc. But when you start digging into the offensive statistics, and the efficiency that came with Moorhead, and then you layer that over Moorhead's history of turning around offenses in his first year or two everywhere he's been, then it's clear. This doesn't mean Penn State will now suffer with Moorhead gone, because his system has been ingrained and will continue. But it does mean that Penn State's sudden improvement is directly attributable to the hiring of Joe Moorhead, and it was probably the smartest thing James Franklin has ever done as a head coach.

Am I remembering right that we did not pass the ball in the 2nd half? Like not one time?

You are correct. This is the only thing that worries me about this game. The reason we didn't throw the ball any in the second half because Dan knew most if not every single player on offense and defense. He knew our chances of winning decreased a bunch if we threw since he knew they had really good corners but had the confidence in our defense to stop their offense. Long story short, it'll be a similar situation with us and you better believe he'll exploit our weaknesses every chance he gets.

Mullen has proven that he can script the first 10-12 plays pretty well. Once it gets beyond that (or if something happens in the midst of it, like a turnover or a big penalty), he becomes very conservative and predictable, and that's with generational talent like Dak or Fitz. This team has Felipe Franks at QB and a whole bunch of nothing to be afraid of offensively. When you add what our defense looks to be and the added motivation of our players wanting to kick Mullen in the balls, this one should get ugly.

The only difference is UF was still running Urban's system which Mullen knew and therefore could exploit a bit. We may have most of the same players, but we will have Moorhead and Shoop's systems in place, which Mullen will not be familiar with, so I don't think it is a fair comparison.
