It’s okay to be a one dimensional QB

he can avoid the rush reasonably well in the pocket

What’s not okay and what gets him killed is the fact he’s operating within a one dimensional offense

You have to wonder what kind of conversation takes place between the two senior Raiola brothers.

My guess is that it starts with Don paying the premiums on Dylan’s Lloyd’s of London policy.

Noticed that yesterday as well he had Emmitt wide open and didn’t see him till it was to late.

Offense didn’t have a rhythm till the end of the 3Q and 4thQ.

The wind factored in as well. The Michigan State QB was inaccurate as hell. The wind played a role in that, but also our coverages and pass rush.

You brought up rhythm. When the offense was struggling, it sure seemed like Dana should have went no huddle. We would put in all of these different sub packages, then Michigan State would sub and their players would damn near walk off the field. There was not any rhythm. And we needed to run the ball. Not sure we have any draw play handoffs or QB draws even in our offense, but that worked for Michigan State yesterday.

I laugh my *** off when some tool posts that Dylan is holding the ball too long. Do you even F$#cking watch the games? Seriously? When play after play both tackles get blown up, pushed backward or the DE shoots around them like they are shot out a cannon. When a LB shoots through the middle of our line untouched? You think a smaller frame QB is going to hold up to that kind of a beating?

1. Dylan has to hold the ball at least until he sees one of his targets get some separation. At times our WR and TE do a good job of that and at other times they do not. Throwing the ball to a covered receiver is always a bad idea. Can Dylan do a better job of seeing the whole field. Maybe. But it kind of hard to do that when your under the kind of pressure he is under on virtually every pass play.

2. This O line is pure ****. It is poorly coached. Poorly motivated. and it is holding this team back from being a top 15 team. If Ruhle is at all serious about taking this program to the next level he needs to make a change. I could not blame Dylan for entering the portal rather than stay and get the **** knocked out of him. Understand one thing. Dylan loves being a Husker. You can see it. But more important, he wants to be a first round draft pick. He wants a big bag. His odds are better at Alabama, LSU, OSU, any major school able to put a good O line in front of him, and most of those schools NEED a QB next year. The WR unit has shown improvement since week one, the D line got better during the bye week. The O line has been bad every day Dom has been here. It seems to get worse every year.

Dylan needs an elite offensive line to be an elite QB and that's not what we have at Nebraska. I feel you put a player like Lateef in at QB with the OL we have and the production would increase at Nebraska. You don't need to have the pocket hold for a longer count and you can use roll outs more often and even use the QB running on broken plays for long yards.

You want to really put fear in the hearts of defensive coordinators have an elusive QB. I feel the only way Nebraska will ever truly become elite again is for Nebraska to have a true elite run pass QB which we have and what we have in our pipeline. Dylan is a good kid he's just not going to get this program back to where it needs to be and we all know where that is and so does Matt Rhule.

I don't want to be Penn State of the Midwest I want to be the Nebraska that every team feared playing when we were truly a blue blood. Matt Rhule is going to have to take the next step and cut ties with a QB he thought would really put us on top and an OL coach who he used to get his nephew sign on, sad but I'm starting to believe it's true. jmo

I think there is more than one factor in the sacks. Yes, having matadors on the O-Line is a problem, But IMHO part of the problem is playcalling. Seems every pass play anymore is a 5 step drop waiting for receivers to get open. As mentioned by others how about some middle screens, draw plays, more quick tosses to the backs or TEs sitting down in the flat or middle? Part of the problem is Dylan's refusal to give up the play and throw out of bounds. Part of the problem (not sure if Dylan or Dana's) is not throwing the receivers open as someone mentioned. And finally, refusing to establish a running game means the DL and LBs tee off. My vote for lead contributor to the sacks is playcalling. I haven't watched the tape yet, but I recall we had a first and goal from the 8 and ran three pass plays. Looked like a Frost/Riley/Callahan offense.

PFF only credits 2 of the sacks to the o-line. They also grade our tackles as better than our interior from yesterday.

The fix is shorter routes where all passes are in first 2 seconds or you tuck and go/rb check down. Also need the rbs consistently getting 5 yards to keep the defense honest. Rb has been too inconsistent.

The offense is fine if a QB can run but when a QB can't that's a problem. Dylan has taken this team about as far as he can with the talents he has which are limited to his arm. He has been loyal to the Nebraska brand and I thank him for that but I wouldn't be sad to see him find a new home where his skills are better suited. Dylan knows Nebraska is not helping him with his future draft status and it's why I feel this may very well be his last year at Nebraska. jmo

Erratic snaps caused a lot of problems for Dylan as well. IMO it didn’t allow him to keep his eyes on the field and disrupted his timing. Justin Evans had a tough game yesterday. Dylan’s reluctance to run the ball lets the DC turn his D line and a blitzer loose without the fear of him breaking out of the pocket for explosive runs.

Thats what I thought too. Evans was really bad.
