Yes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.Sad fact: Dylan is on pace to be sacked 36 times this season.
Where’s our quick pass offense? I feel like even our quick passes feel so slow. Dylan is definitely not without blame for those numbers.Yes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.
Agree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?Yes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.
Interestingly enough on 2 of the plays with plenty of protection he 1. Threw interception 2. Got sackedAgree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
That can be fixed in a week. OL is an ongoing unaddressed problem from coaching/development to recruiting.Interestingly enough on 2 of the plays with plenty of protection he 1. Threw interception 2. Got sacked
Because he held too long
They discussed after the Michigan game….they had 2 weeks and didn’t fix itThat can be fixed in a week. OL is an ongoing unaddressed problem from coaching/development to recruiting.
I honestly think the bigger problem right now is holding the ball too long / trying to make the big plays. The offensive line is no doubt bad, but I'm willing to bet half or more of the sacks are avoidable if Dylan makes smarter plays. There was tons of talk going into the year of him focusing on keeping it simply and not trying to make the crazy plays... that applies to pressure in the pocket and throwing the ball away, finding a quick hitter, or check down.Agree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
I heard someone talk about it and supposedly his ball in hand time is 2.9 seconds per pass attempt, and it ranks in the bottom 25 or something in the country. I’m not sure where to look it up at.Dylan simply does not have what I would call a quick release meaning from the time he gets the ball, surveys the field, go through progressions, find a receiver and make the throw.
Nope. The pressure causes one to hold on to long. When you’re worried about getting sacked all the time you don’t see the field as clear which causes one to hold on to the ball too long. Clean up the pressure, Dylan will be fine. Kids worried every down. He’s not a quick release QB. He’s just not. Line needs to do better.I honestly think the bigger problem right now is holding the ball too long / trying to make the big plays. today it was holding onto it too longAgree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
Not the line problems, it was about Raiola holding the ball too long. Holgerson and Raiola himself discussed it after the Michigan game. Please pay attention to what’s going on in here"They" have been discussing the line problems for years.
Why are you carrying on about the line in replying to me?You should probably recruit and develop the O line to suit to the highest rated QB you've ever even sniffed and his style of play.
His dad is a top 5 all time OL at NU.
And his uncle is the OL coach.
I mean how incompetent do you have to be before you HAVE to be let go? Donnie is the type of insider hire (Cotton, but worse) that keeps this program in the dregs.
Effective CEOs navigate these things. Let's see what stubble gummy bear does. Im guessing nada
this question needs to be answered, and not with words but deedsAgree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
Burrow was sacked 34 times in 2019. This is what most wanted from an offense. Well for 2 quarters in a row we were headed into 40 mph winds which is why you need to be able to run the ball at Nebraska and in order to run the ball you have to get into a rhythm to do so.Sad fact: Dylan is on pace to be sacked 36 times this season.
Is Dylan trying to make the it play every time? Does he trust all his receivers? Seems like he’s usually looking for Barney or lindemeierYes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.
Im dropping it. Peace, brother. GBRWhy are you carrying on about the line in replying to me?
I don’t know which exactly is a bigger problem.at times today he had zero chance to even set up . Maybe we need some designed roll outs or move the pocket a little.Agree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
Both were definitely were causes for the sack total yesterday at 5.Yes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.
Well said. It's a combination of things. There were times that I counted five rushing against our five blocking. And I love Emmitt but he's not adding much to pass pro. There are things that could be changed up too- like running a draw play now and then or a middle screen. Things that can be done to exploit pass rushers.Yes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.
Holding onto the ball too long and play calling. There were a couple slow developing plays where Dylan didn't even have a chance, but there were others where he had time and didn't get rid of it or he took his eyes off the routes to look down at the pass rush.Agree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
Rarely has this Nebraska program fielded a line that could pass block for a longer period of time against a quality pass rush. Probably five or six years in the last 40. We've survived by running the ball and then using play action. Michigan and Michigan State did not respect our play action plays. Their rushers were peeling their ears back. And why shouldn't they? Play action out of spread when the fake handoff isn't even within a yard of the RB and the QB isn't a threat to keep it....You should probably recruit and develop the O line to suit to the highest rated QB you've ever even sniffed and his style of play.
Dylan seems to be seeing guys late-- wants to pass it after they get open. He's such an accurate passer that he should trust his pre-snap reads and throw the guys open.Is Dylan trying to make the it play every time? Does he trust all his receivers? Erratic snaps caused a lot of problems for Dylan as well. IMO it didn’t allow him to keep his eyes on the field and disrupted his timing. Justin Evans had a tough game yesterday. Dylan’s reluctance to run the ball lets the DC turn his D line and a blitzer loose without the fear of him breaking out of the pocket for explosive runs.Holding onto the ball too long and play calling. It was an up & down game for a lot of guys. Dylan- obviously. But Justin Evans as well. His block on Hunter's long TD play was awesome. Our line gets a lot of criticism especially from the loud drunks in the stadium yesterday (who also apparently posted on this board) but they did some very nice things as well. Hell, even Dana H. was getting a lot of criticism yesterday. And yet, we did score 38 points and we are now 4-1!Erratic snaps caused a lot of problems for Dylan as well. MSU helped us a LOT with the turnovers. I watched UCLA’s QB with envy yesterday. IF somehow Dylan could make himself more of a run threat it would help us immensely. There is no doubt that he’s easier to scheme against than a true dual threat QB. People forget how much Bo insisted on having a very mobile QB and how much Charlie’s guys preyed on pure pro style passers. It was an up & down game for a lot of guys. Dylan- obviously. Fair post. People need to understand that the posting on here during games is just an out loud voicing of the swings of emotion that make us love the sport. It’s a college team with guys playing who have a lot on their plate besides football during the week. They are never going to be perfect. We are beaten and timid as fans. When it looks like the team is about to fold we get angry and frustrated.
at the end of the day they won. We could use better tackles but they ended up looking much better in the second half.
I don’t like rhule as a coach. He looks like a deer in headlights too much for my liking. However, I can set my bias aside and I can say he’s doing good job this year. The team is far better than when he started. They now believe they can win games instead of going all in on losing them
Noticed that yesterday as well he had Emmitt wide open and didn’t see him till it was to late.Dylan seems to be seeing guys late-- wants to pass it after they get open. He's such an accurate passer that he should trust his pre-snap reads and throw the guys open.
Another thing I see is that he holds the ball longer against man to man. We need to use the TEs more. Bunch bigger body guys up with the WRs. Get more quick breaking routes going against man.
They are paid, and paid well. None of them attend class. It’s all “online”. I’m sure some of them see the value in academics… but let’s not pretend this isn’t a business, bottom line. It’s not too much to expect players to at least attempt to block guys coming untouched to the QB, repeatedly.Fair post.
