At what point does he call Rhule and say, “do what you need to do. I want my boy to go in the first round.”
Gutsy win today, which may be credited to S&C. We seemed in better shape when it mattered.

When this line plays bad (which is often) it is embarrassing.

In the end, you encourage what you tolerate. Would this be tolerated at Oregon? At Ohio State? Hell, at...(checks notes)...Indiana?

Interestingly enough on 2 of the plays with plenty of protection he 1. Threw interception 2. Got sacked
Because he held too long
That can be fixed in a week. OL is an ongoing unaddressed problem from coaching/development to recruiting.

Agree. But what is the bigger problem? Holding the ball too long or lack of protection?
I honestly think the bigger problem right now is holding the ball too long / trying to make the big plays. The offensive line is no doubt bad, but I'm willing to bet half or more of the sacks are avoidable if Dylan makes smarter plays. There was tons of talk going into the year of him focusing on keeping it simply and not trying to make the crazy plays... that applies to pressure in the pocket and throwing the ball away, finding a quick hitter, or check down.

Dylan simply does not have what I would call a quick release meaning from the time he gets the ball, surveys the field, go through progressions, find a receiver and make the throw.
I heard someone talk about it and supposedly his ball in hand time is 2.9 seconds per pass attempt, and it ranks in the bottom 25 or something in the country. I’m not sure where to look it up at.

Nope. The pressure causes one to hold on to long. When you’re worried about getting sacked all the time you don’t see the field as clear which causes one to hold on to the ball too long. Clean up the pressure, Dylan will be fine. Kids worried every down. He’s not a quick release QB. He’s just not. Line needs to do better.

They discussed after the Michigan game….they had 2 weeks and didn’t fix it

You should probably recruit and develop the O line to suit to the highest rated QB you've ever even sniffed and his style of play.

His dad is a top 5 all time OL at NU.

And his uncle is the OL coach.

I mean how incompetent do you have to be before you HAVE to be let go? Donnie is the type of insider hire (Cotton, but worse) that keeps this program in the dregs.

Effective CEOs navigate these things. Let's see what stubble gummy bear does. Im guessing nada

Sad fact: Dylan is on pace to be sacked 36 times this season.
Burrow was sacked 34 times in 2019. This is what most wanted from an offense. Well for 2 quarters in a row we were headed into 40 mph winds which is why you need to be able to run the ball at Nebraska and in order to run the ball you have to get into a rhythm to do so.

I don’t know which exactly is a bigger problem.at times today he had zero chance to even set up . Maybe we need some designed roll outs or move the pocket a little.

The QB's coming in for Nebraska are a very different type QB than Dylan and I think it's pretty obvious to most. Lateef is almost ready to take the reins and then Taylor will follow. I'm seeing a change coming with our QB after this year and same goes for our OL coach, I have no personal inside information it's just my own feelings about current the situation of the offense. Dylan just doesn't seem to fit the offense that Dana Holgorsen wants to run and Dylan just doesn't seem all to happy with the offense that he's playing with at the moment, it's not helping his NFL asperations.

Lateef and Taylor are built to run Holgorsen's offense to a tee they are a threat both running and passing something Dylan isn't. I just feel this will be Dylan's last year at Nebraska and I'm sure he will find a good place outside the BIG where he has a great OL that can protect him because he certainly can't protect himself with his legs, he needs lots of help.

This is not a dig on Dylan, it's just that he's not a mobile QB, he's a QB with a very good arm and that's about it. I feel as this season progresses we will hear more and more cries for Lateef to get more snaps and Holgorsen just may give him more and more. I feel our OL coach will start to feel the heat as recruiting really heats up and transfers start to look for new venues. We all know why Dom was retained when Rhule came on board and because Dylan may not be around next year is there really a need to keep any of the Raiola's.

All of this is pure speculation on my part but I have a very strong feeling it could very well happen. jmo

I laugh my *** off when some tool posts that Dylan is holding the ball too long. Do you even F$#cking watch the games? Seriously? When play after play both tackles get blown up, pushed backward or the DE shoots around them like they are shot out a cannon. When a LB shoots through the middle of our line untouched? You think a smaller frame QB is going to hold up to that kind of a beating?

1. Dylan has to hold the ball at least until he sees one of his targets get some separation. At times our WR and TE do a good job of that and at other times they do not. Throwing the ball to a covered receiver is always a bad idea. Can Dylan do a better job of seeing the whole field. Maybe. But it kind of hard to do that when your under the kind of pressure he is under on virtually every pass play.

2. This O line is pure ****. It is poorly coached. Poorly motivated. and it is holding this team back from being a top 15 team. If Ruhle is at all serious about taking this program to the next level he needs to make a change. I could not blame Dylan for entering the portal rather than stay and get the **** knocked out of him. Understand one thing. Dylan loves being a Husker. You can see it. But more important, he wants to be a first round draft pick. He wants a big bag. His odds are better at Alabama, LSU, OSU, any major school able to put a good O line in front of him, and most of those schools NEED a QB next year. The WR unit has shown improvement since week one, the D line got better during the bye week. The O line has been bad every day Dom has been here. It seems to get worse every year.

Dominic has to go.

Yes. The O line needs improvement. But Dylan needs to get rid of the damn ball as well.
Well said. It's a combination of things. There were times that I counted five rushing against our five blocking. And I love Emmitt but he's not adding much to pass pro. There are things that could be changed up too- like running a draw play now and then or a middle screen. Things that can be done to exploit pass rushers.

Holding onto the ball too long and play calling. There were a couple slow developing plays where Dylan didn't even have a chance, but there were others where he had time and didn't get rid of it or he took his eyes off the routes to look down at the pass rush.

Rarely has this Nebraska program fielded a line that could pass block for a longer period of time against a quality pass rush. Probably five or six years in the last 40. We've survived by running the ball and then using play action. Michigan and Michigan State did not respect our play action plays. Their rushers were peeling their ears back. And why shouldn't they? Play action out of spread when the fake handoff isn't even within a yard of the RB and the QB isn't a threat to keep it....

Is Dylan trying to make the it play every time? Does he trust all his receivers? Seems like he’s usually looking for Barney or lindemeier
Dylan seems to be seeing guys late-- wants to pass it after they get open. He's such an accurate passer that he should trust his pre-snap reads and throw the guys open.

Another thing I see is that he holds the ball longer against man to man. We need to use the TEs more. Bunch bigger body guys up with the WRs. Get more quick breaking routes going against man.

Erratic snaps caused a lot of problems for Dylan as well. IMO it didn’t allow him to keep his eyes on the field and disrupted his timing. Justin Evans had a tough game yesterday. Dylan’s reluctance to run the ball lets the DC turn his D line and a blitzer loose without the fear of him breaking out of the pocket for explosive runs.

It was an up & down game for a lot of guys. Dylan- obviously. But Justin Evans as well. His block on Hunter's long TD play was awesome. Our line gets a lot of criticism especially from the loud drunks in the stadium yesterday (who also apparently posted on this board) but they did some very nice things as well. Hell, even Dana H. was getting a lot of criticism yesterday. And yet, we did score 38 points and we are now 4-1!

We are beaten and timid as fans. When it looks like the team is about to fold we get angry and frustrated.

at the end of the day they won. We could use better tackles but they ended up looking much better in the second half.

I don’t like rhule as a coach. He looks like a deer in headlights too much for my liking. However, I can set my bias aside and I can say he’s doing good job this year. The team is far better than when he started. They now believe they can win games instead of going all in on losing them

MSU helped us a LOT with the turnovers. I watched UCLA’s QB with envy yesterday. IF somehow Dylan could make himself more of a run threat it would help us immensely. There is no doubt that he’s easier to scheme against than a true dual threat QB. People forget how much Bo insisted on having a very mobile QB and how much Charlie’s guys preyed on pure pro style passers.

Fair post. People need to understand that the posting on here during games is just an out loud voicing of the swings of emotion that make us love the sport. It’s a college team with guys playing who have a lot on their plate besides football during the week. They are never going to be perfect.

Noticed that yesterday as well he had Emmitt wide open and didn’t see him till it was to late.

Offense didn’t have a rhythm till the end of the 3Q and 4thQ.

They are paid, and paid well. None of them attend class. It’s all “online”. I’m sure some of them see the value in academics… but let’s not pretend this isn’t a business, bottom line. It’s not too much to expect players to at least attempt to block guys coming untouched to the QB, repeatedly.

Yeah, I get the anger. I get the emotion as well. People vent during the game.
