Does Will Hall excite you as OC?

He does, he has an exciting offense, HC experience, and plenty of ties around the state. Good candidate.

For perspective, he would be our first true OC in 12 years. And yes, I would be on board. Tulane jumped from 83rd to 22nd in total offense in his one year there.

He certainly might be successful. But it's a pretty big risk. "Moorhead's offense just wasn't up to SEC speed" -- well his offense had been played out a lot closer to SEC speed than anything Will Hall has done so far. Although the setup is certainly there for some Hall Stockholm Syndrome ala Grantham. But our fanbase is excited because of the last name and along with OM are the only schools in the conference that would be. He's had one decent offense in the American, which I'll agree that he improved dramatically. He's done nothing to make him a "pay him top dollar, flashy, can't miss OC" in the SEC. Not yet.

As a head coach Hall won at West Alabama (led them to a couple of conference championships) and West Georgia (took them deep in the playoffs twice). Coached under Hud and Norvell and Fritz. And has a great football mind.

Sure, his dad won a lot of games at Mississippi high school ball. Won quite a few with Will on the team. But that's not a reason he'll be a good college coach.

Look at these improvements his Tulane offense showed after his first year there.

Of all the names being thrown around for head coach or assistants, this is probably the one that excites me the most. I think he's probably got more upside than anyone else we've been talking about. I'd love to see the combination of him and Monken.
