Duke wins the title this year and we have not won another title by the end of the 2019-2020 season??

Or if we flame out in the sweet 16 again the next 2 seasons?

I believe Cal needs another final 4 trip in the next 2 years, I do not think a title is a realistic end to this year, but maybe next year if some key guys return and Whitney does indeed come to UK.

There is no coach/recruiter that can fill that seat as of today. Be patient Cal will turn it around. I believe by March this team will have a good shot at winning it all. Way too early to give up on this team.
You can only use the “let’s hope the have got it by March” card so long.
Fans are tired of getting trounced by our blue blood rivals and 8-10 loss seasons.

Duke could win the next 5 championship, us lose before the elite eight every year, and people on here would be absolutely fine with it as long as we get the number one recruiting class each season. What if Anthony Davis decided to go somewhere else and Cal didn’t have one championship in almost 10 years? This one and done business would be on its last leg because it is not working.

The head coach of UK’s basketball program should always be sitting in a hot seat. With the only exception of 1-2 seasons following a championship.

That position makes too much money for anything else. Plus I fee like when Cal came in he was motivated to prove himself. We turned him down once before and fired his predecessor after just 2 seasons. So he knew he had to do big things right away. And to his credit he maintained great energy and momentum up through 14-15. Since then it seems like he’s lost his hunger.

What if Higgins never officiated any of our tournament games and we capture the title in 2011, 2015 and 2017?! That's the truly sad part about the whole deal. One rooferee has single handedly cost us three national championships. I hate throwing blame somewhere else besides on Cal and the players on those teams, but this cannot be overlooked or tossed to the wayside. We were ****** all three of those years, point blank period. It's absolutely criminal.

Listen, I’m not exactly psyched over the way things have gone lately but I’m also confident that Calipari will steer things back towards what we became accustomed to his first 5-6 seasons.

Never would there be a more “be careful what you wish for” shining example than if Cal were to leave.

Only if you are willing to donate a few million and let's set a record and pay Brad Stevens about 15-20 million per year. Maybe he will leave Boston for that salary.

How many times has Cal proved his doubters wrong come tournament time. He gives us a chance to win the whole thing almost every year. That is realism. Some idiots think we should win the title every year. I don't think we can do better than Cal. Period.

WTF? We are 4-1 and people are mad because we are only beating teams by double digits, but not enough. Plenty to get worked out, but dam it's early. If the past hasn't taught some of you fans to give the season a chance I don't know what will. It was 2 years ago we were in the elite 8 and the UNCheat game. Had a hell of a team. Last year wasn't great at the end, but Cal can't take FT's for them. Free throws. I know PJ had a bad finger, but what did he miss like 15 plus some were front ends of one and ones. That's pretty dam hard to overcome down the stretch. If he hits about average we are in the elite 8 again. He didn't it ended in the sweet sixteen. Everyone wanted to make K state out to be horrible, but their ranked this year. It's not perfect, but it's one hell of a ride. 3 years ago we were 38-1. I agree it's time for a final four and #9 soon, but we are 4-1 with a new team. Chill out and be thankful.

The short answer is no. However, it’s probably a bit more complicated than that.

I would be surprised if Cal decides he’s had enough and retires without ever getting to another Final Four or winning a 2nd title. I see him as a fighter, and not someone who just gives in.

That being said, I think Cal and the powers that be at Kentucky, are trying to be clean as a whistle when it comes to recruiting. That’s very noble, and of course the right way to do it. The problem is, all the other Bluebloods are not playing by those rules any longer. Eventually, Cal may decide that it’s just not worth it anymore.

You make some good points until the Kansas St comment. We had no business losing to them, especially when their best player was hurt and basically didn’t play in that game.

Absolutely not.

But some may be happy to know Cal’s tenure is likely on its back stretch. That would, however, be at his choosing.

Nonsense, I love Cal but there are a lot of great coaches that would work here. We're not Georgia basketball or UK football, were are an elite program in every way possible.

I get that completely, but I looked it up. We lost by 3 and PJ went 8 of 20 from the FT line. A lot of that was down the stretch and some were front end one and ones. That's how you lose against a team your not supposed to in the tourney. Your trying to pull away and hammering it inside and PJ is getting fouled and missing the front end of one and ones, that's like a TO. Hard to keep doing that and progress. Plus even going 1 of 2 at best kills you in a close game. I know they weren't on our level, but it's the tourney and you can't do those things and expect to beat anyone in the sweet sixteen. Buffalo shouldn't have beaten ARZ and Ayton. I agree, just saying.

I'm with you bro. If losing 8 or 10 games a year becomes the norm it's time to move on. That doesn't happen at other blue bloods.

There is a lot of real estate between winning a title every year and swaggin into a 34 point beatdown. The first is not practical. The latter is not acceptable.
It’s a single loss. Don’t look now both Duke and UK a loss. And by the way sunshine no loss is “acceptable” to a Cat fan but most of us get over it and realize we are 4-1, showing some growth and will be in the thick of things tourney time.

Cal will be here as long as he wants. Any implication that we would want to move on is just dumb. The only way Cal gets pushed out is if there are NCAA violations involved.

We never should have played Duke on opening night, but I’m sure UKAA is happy with the check.

Since then, we have seen that Duke can be competed with.

Unfortunately, people will hang onto that game all season.
Maybe. However, beating UNC and Kansas would go a long way in helping forget the Duke game.

I can’t imagine the atmosphere around this program if we lose both the UNC and Kansas games.

Coach K is a programmed machine. This is his crescendo of evil.

He represents the "rise of the machines" that was foretold in the prophecies of the Terminator films.

John Calipari and John Connor have the same first name and last name initial.

You do the math on how this one ends.

It will be gross.

And don’t forget U6.
