Just curious as to the opinions on this....After the performance at Michigan and at home against Troy......does having a black shirt at this point of this season mean anything?

II think there are a couple players......Barry...Gifford....possibly Bootle who seem to embrace the "Fly to the ball" philosophy ....

I liked Giffords response. Basically, yeah it bothered him, but he thought that it provided the group an identity and some confidence. Something this group needs right now.

I just think the dept needs to cool the tradition talk and videos promoting the black shirts, the pipeline, etc.

Let it build organically, it will eventually work itself out

They weren’t bad against Troy, and let’s not act like they didn’t get gouged now and then through the years. But for sure, there are some soft players, a lot of them, on both sides of the ball

I sorta wonder if our DC should give his Blackshirt up too until he can get things right.

I have come 180 degrees on this. Much like sell-out, tunnel walk and all the other crap that becomes important because your team is ****. I used to think blackshirts should be earned and all that.

On the other hand, I am going to call the defense on the field blackshirts no matter what. That is their name. For me, blackshirt means the starters, or in this day in age, the starting packages (nickle, dime, etc). The best guys we have to put on D are the blackshirts. They earned that by beating out their teammates.

There are different ways to motivate people, but dangling carrots or using sticks is not usually the best way. The best motivation comes from within yourself. Football is a team game and we will live and die as a team. Therefore, the starters either have them or they don't.

Blacks not even a school color. I think it messed with their minds and made them think they were raiders.
