Does ******* ever reach #1 at UF?

Friend and I were thinking about this the other day and wondering if he ever gets UF to number 1, much less for 5 weeks and have his MSU 2014 type season there. I personally don’t see him ever reaching number 1 for even 1 week, much less winning a Natty.

For ****** it's all about finding "that guy" at QB and he definitely doesn't have him now. He caught lightning in a bottle at State with Dak. Signing a tight end to play QB at UF would probably get his *** fired before the kid played a down. ***

Hard to say. Us getting to number one was such a perfect storm of different things. Alabama, Ohio State, and Oregon all had early season losses. Florida State, the defending national champion, was very underwhelming for chunks of the regular season. Clemson was one year away from being what they are now. Oklahoma was having a down year. He will need a lot of things to go right, but he should start most seasons in the Top 10 or 15 so it’s more likely than us being number one ever was.

Franks was rated higher than Jones. Franks has a 177 passer rating and led them to NY6 win as a soph, so not sure why you'd make a move at the moment.

I could see something very similar to us in 2014 where he gets to #1 early in the season then loses to UGa and misses the playoff. The only difference being he probably won’t be looking to leave and blow the FSU game like he did with us in the Egg Bowl in 2014.

Actually Felipe Franks has been really good this year. Take a look at his numbers:

42-54 for 524yrds thru two games. That’s 78% completion and 10yds per attempt

I think he has a good chance purely because pollsters WANT Florida to be a top ten team. It's a lot easier to hit number one if you are auto-slotted every pre-season as a top ten team.

I think he has a better chance to do it at Florida than he did with us. The polls are tremendously conjectural, as we know, and I think voters who know basically nothing about a program are much more inclined to vote with a name. Florida is a name they know.

Yep, Franks gets a lot of **** for not being "great" as a freshman with **** coaching. He was a high 4 star and I think top 10 QB, I can't remember if he was rated as a dual threat or drop back.
