I'd be suprised to be honest. freshmen will win you alot of games, but they aren't going to bring back much hard ware.

No. It won’t happen. Can’t keep players long enough to not be a complete rebuilding project with inconsistent play.

We have never done anything without guys who have some experience. 2010 had PPatt, 2011 had Liggins, Harrellson and Miller, 2012 had Miller and two returning stars as sophomores, 2013 had no one and we went to the NIT, 2014 had WCS and Poy, 2015 had Harrisons, WCS, Dakari, Poy, 2016 had no one inside, 2017 had Willis and Hawkins.

It’s not happening. I believed it was possible last year and 2014 and 2015 but it’s not coming.

Cal is a great recruiter. Not such a good developer of talent but given how he recruits freshman, what can we expect?

The Cal model is over.

I honestly don't see it unless we can start keeping guys longer than a year.

That being said this team was never going to win the championship. First real team they played would have destroyed them. Only reason FF was an option was the path we had and we couldn't even take advantage of that.
I don't buy that. Getting the the FF can give confidence like no other. Anything can happen at that point. The 2003 Syracuse team beat a very experienced Kansas team. Yes they had melo, but they were very young at critical positions.

Next year IF he doesn’t push 4+ out the door this year. we have another 2012 in the making and everyone wins. Lose 4 or more and it’s 2013.

Should only lose Knox and Shai who’s stock will never get higher, but pj may have played himself into a mid 1st rd pick, Diallo could make it 4 with one good workout and Vanderbilt’s a wild card. the bottom 3 are G league bound if they leave today IMO.

Ask me again after the draft when I know our roster.

I'd have taped Vandy up and let him go. Something had to give in that game, and Stubborn Cal showed up again. I mean for God's sake- KSU beat us with a broken foot.
LOL got to be 95% something - healthy I guess.... but its ok to start a 20% that can not hold the ball

If you just look at the NBA now, Cal had John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, and Patrick Patterson on the same team and still laid an egg. Lets not even get into the KAT team, Ulis, Booker, Jesus. Its becoming clear he got lucky by having possibly a generational type player in Anthony Davis.

Also helped that Kansas missed 18 free throws.

He won his only title (BARELY) with one of the most transcendent players in college and NBA history, by beating a decent KU team.

NO! He will never win another damn championship, absolutely not!

Depends on how much longer he coaches. The guy got a team that people said wouldn't even make the tournament to the sweet sixteen after winning the SEC tournament no one thought we'd win. We're in a position to win it year in and year out. How many other coaches do that? I believe the answer is YES if he coaches 5 years or more.

Oh he could win another one under the right conditions. He isn't recruiting like he used to and if he loses Wiseman to Penny that streak of not getting too 5 players is going to continue. If enough guys stick around for two or three years he could snag another.

Not just Davis, the NBA lockout is a huge reason why we won it in 2012.

That's fair, and I see your point. I just don't see them being able to beat a decent team, but the point is moot I suppose since they couldn't even handle k-state.

Sure he can win another title. And I think he'll coach here until he does. He's too competitive not to.

It's just impossible to get any continuity with the roster turnover he's faced over the last 3 years.
He has not "faced" it.... he chose it. He is the top dog and chooses what goes on.... don't be acting it is an act of god that we are always young. It is his choice.

No. His chance was 2014 and 2015. If he can't beat Kevin Ollie who got fired 4 years later or win with the greatest collection of talent in college history he never will again. He's just stealing money from UK at this point.
I would argue that those two years were plagued with critical injuries of guys we needs to win those games.

Most of his Memphis teams were pretty good without the one and dones, with the exception of Evans and Rose. I'm not sure it will happen if we keep playing 5 freshman, you have to have some veteran leadership on the team and we didn't have any. The two sophomores didn't even start at the end of the year.

I'd say about 80/20 no. Maybe if we get another Anthony Davis talent.

Maybe next season. Should be loaded.
i honestly don't think so. We struggled to win it with Anthony Davis and Co and didn't with the platoons. Cal will always have us there because of talent but he has to decide to coach more than just effort and psychologically. He knows the game but seems to have an aversion or think it's below him to have to strategically game coach or plan. Brags about not having to watch film , thinks it's silly to run in bounds plays, never recognizes match up advantages we have, always has athletic advantage but rarely uses that to pressure and create tempo, seems to play it straight most of the time the hard way.

He himself needs to be an 8 point difference maker in games which he can do if he wants to and if so I'll change my mind and say yes

He is getting whatever recruits Duke doesn't want. I mean it took a team with best player since Lebron to win. We have 2 deep team gets beat in FF, oh by the way undefeated, John Wall-Boogie Cousins. Wow.

Coach K and Roy Williams would have won with those teams. Those UNC teams that won in 09 and other were best teams and they won with ease.
Cal likes to talk about playing fast but his DNA says slow muck it up UMASS. This is why UCONN beat us twice and Wisky ruins our season. Cal is fine coach but he has flat out been out coached in big games. Calhoun, Ollie, Wisky.

No more NC's, I mean 14-15 were great opportunities, this bracket. No he is not going to win another.
Hope he stays for a long time but not happening. AD comes along maybe

Only if coach K retires. Duke is now the place to be, Kentucky and Cal are playing catch up.

Well, not next year so it depends on if we get any of the top 3 players. That’s the only way we can do it by having all freshman each year. They have to get the “studs” and we haven’t done that recently.
