In 5 more years, will you be okay with us having "dominated College Basketball" for the previous 15 years, with only 1 title to show for it? Because that's where we're headed.

Yes Cal did great his first 5 years, and earned our respect and patience. He's used up that goodwill over the last 5 years though.

OK, we have 8 titles in how many years ? And Cal is suppose to do it every 2-3 years ? be realistic. Sounds like somebody has gotten spoiled. And I know you said "looks like a team that can win a title." What exactly does a team that can win a title look like ? Championship game Randle have cramps and a bad hamstring, Fox, Bam and Monk was right there in it, tough loss. I am frustrated with the team this year, but to flat say I am tired of Cal and he is fully to blame, I am not doing that. It is December, sit back, have a coke, read a book, and see if this team grows. If not, next years team if they do not contend, we will address it. If he can't be one of the top teams and favorites next year, you may have a legitimate argument, but it is not like we have been NIT teams the last 4 or 5 years, give me a break.
Coach K lost with MFN Zion, RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish. They also had a nice PG in Tre Jones. Winning it all is tough, it is why UCLA leads with most championships with 11, and they have not been close in years, and won over half of theirs in a decade.

You do realize Mitch will be using actual marketing data and competitive pressure information. He won’t be listening to stupidity spewed on Rafters.
You have realized Rupp hasn’t been as full as previous years? Big screen TVs, or something else? Hmmmm.

I love having Cal, but if somehow this is his attitude towards even one fan, then he can hit the road for all I care. One fan or one million - he needs to care about what each and every one of us thinks.
He definitely does not need to care about what you think. He has a job to do and he doesn't need to listen to negative nannies like you.

Many threads on this topic. Attendance down all over the country. Many competitive pressures involved. Want to know more? Google.

Louisville is always a big game. I expect to see our players come out fired up and play with intensity. A win would be a big step leading into conference play.

Have to admit you have been the most confrontational, least-enjoyable poster on here this past week. You are literally single-handedly taking it upon yourself to police any and all criticism and negativity towards Cal, and the way you've chosen to do so is pretty crappy - condescending, rude and with a bully-like tone. Maybe take a break and go enjoy Christmas with your family, then come back and rejoin the crazies!

Wrong on all counts. I give back what I get. Not that it matters. You just got your little feelings hurt. Run along. Have some OJ and a cookie.

Stop whining. It’s embarrassing. Stand up like a man and bash the cats. Own your negativity. Or have a cookie and and some orange juice.

Uh this could not be further from the truth, He should treat us with respect sure but honestly i would prefer if he doesn't care at all what we think, there is a reason he is the coach of this team and we are all on message boards. If he wants an opinion he can ask Joe B or someone like that who has been connected to the program. Can't be worried about pleasing random people whose credentials may or may not be there.

LOL. Yeah, right? That one had a nasty taste in his mind already. I doubt he would notice.

Since the 2015 debacle here are all the teams Cal has beaten in the NCAA Tournament.

Abilene Christian
Wofford
Houston
Davidson
Buffalo
Northern Kentucky
Wichita State
UCLA
Stony Brook

And some people wonder why fans aren't happy.

Wonder why unreasonable, entitled and whiny Nancy boy fans aren’t happy. The ones that are realistic and understand the game don’t have a problem. Just making your post accurate.

Yeah, I mean losing to Auburn and Kansas State without their best players was really no big deal. I'm just happy Cal could parlay those tourney losses into a lifetime contract for himself.

I, and I would guess the majority of the people on here, would strongly disagree with this.

The fans seemed cal worthy and he wanted it first of all. It was his dream job. Plenty of coaches wanted it after tubby left too. And after Pitino left. And even after Sutton left. It’s one of the top 5 jobs in college basketball and that’s not going to change anytime soon and it likely won’t matter how Cal exits. It never has mattered how or why the previous guy left.

Your post reads more like you’re a John Calipari fan and not a Kentucky Wildcat fan.
Not at all. Actually I wasn’t a fan of his until he came to UK.

I love UK, my childhood was shaped because of UK athletics in general. My dad played baseball at UK and remains friends with many of the guys he went to school with, Dan Issel, Larry Conley just to name drop a couple lol. Just making the point UK is in my blood and not because of Cal.

But I remember where UK was in the couple years before he was hired. It wasn’t good and it was about to get worse. At the time, this 10 year ride seemed light years away

Its similar for me to what Pitino did. Different times and different situations, but in my mind, both saved my team in a desperate time of need.

I’d say Cal is more worried about coaching his guys than the fans. Hopefully we come out ready to play and have a decent day shooting the ball. I’m not disgruntled at all, maybe disappointed to an extent. I understand, stuff happens and there’s a long season to go. This season is the Murphy’s Law of college basketball for everyone.

I was unaware Cal was in control over what teams they play in the NCAA tournament.

actually looking at those names we must had some pretty good seeds (and thus by extension) some really good seasons in that time to be playing all those mid majors.

Just pointing out we've had easy paths in the tourney over the past few years and still lost to two teams, Kansas State and Auburn, who pretty much played without their best players. Does any responsibility for those losses fall in Cal's lap?

of course they do

Just as some of the praise for making two elite eights in that time period

UK is so lucky to have Cal. They owe him endless gratitude. UK basketball would be mid-major without him. He saved UK b-ball and when he leaves there will be no one, NO ONE, who will be able to fill his shoes.

Cal has always said we are everybody's super bowl so they will play out of their heads. Why does so many teams want it more than our guys, play harder, more aggressive, etc.? Why don't our guys match their heart and let talent discrepancy take over?

Why don't we come out wanting it more than them from the get go? Why do we play down to competition and when we play similar talented teams why don't we want it a lot more and just play harder and more aggressive than them? It's like we just try and match baskets and just hang in there.

That's why I think hard defensive pressure from the get go might give us that energy level we are lacking. The slow down just helps teams that aren't as deep as we are.

Im not sure what to take from this post,if these are really weak teams what is all of the "Duke always gets the great draws" every freaking year? Im telling ya, we always look like idiots..then start blaming the refs for giving the other teams all of the calls.

That post was for all the "Look at what Cal has accomplished over the past couple of years" crowd. Our bracket has been incredibly easy over those two tournaments and we still blew it against K State and Auburn, teams that played without their best players.

You think either last year's team or 2017 was built to win a title? As in a team built to scare people? That's what UK basketball is all about, and what Cal was all about his first 5 years. We haven't seen a product on the court like that in a long time.
Scare people? Whay u think it's the mon stars from space jam. No team scares anyone in todays landscape. A number 16 team beat, rocked, the number 1 seed in the tourney 2 years ago. Scare, lol. 2017 was one of the most unrated teams we have ever had that could have and should have in my opinion won it all. We were deep , averaged 90 pts game, should have been a 1 seed. Scare ppl pfft.... how about if they put on costumes and play maybe they will scare people.

Today is a pivotal game for our Cats. Fans need to show the love ALL game. Players need to see & hear BBN at their best. Wish Dontae could have been ready. Go Cats!!!
