Does Cal know where players will be drafted?

Nobody knows where. Trades, team needs, surprise picks. He might have enough clout to get a fairly sized range of projected draft slot, but they could be the surprise pick or also fall 10 spots. Its not an exact science when you have 30 different organizations making choices one after another

He’s probably got a fair idea but a lot of gm’s play things close to the vest. They’re not just gonna tell everybody who they’re taking. Even, for example, if someone may be planning to take Herro at 20, someone they may have had at 15 on their wishlist may slip to them and their plans change. Nobody knows for sure until the names are called.

The KY effect is really a thing and I think Cal knows a lot more than what people on here think he does.

I think he knows within a range based on the conversations he has with the teams. He’ll know the teams pick and what they are saying and trying to build around. That and comparative analysis between players that play the same position is most likely what he bases his feedback on.

Everything is relative.

Team X may say "If Herro is there at 18, we're definitely taking him."
And then someone unexpect falls to 18, and sorry Tyler.

Was just about to post this. That I'm sure some guys hear from a team that they will take them at X spot no matter what. Never thought about what if, say, PJ Washington fell to X spot.. and OKC takes him instead.

Still. If you're told by a team that you're going to be taken at the 23rd spot.. you have to feel pretty good that you're gonna go within the next few picks.
