I love how when a guy decommits he suddenly is fat slow and sucks.
This is a sad trend here.

Agreed - Morgan is the definition of project. Time to set our sights higher.Ohhhh no we lost a 2-star OL who probably committed only for Fudd, not RU, so what could Ash possibly do?
Never have we seen so many know so much about what they can't possibly know.Never have so many known so little about so much.
Just posted a similar post on the other board and it was removed. I guess I'm an idiot to think it is not ok for him to coach for OSU while decommitts pile up. Wtfrelax, he has a bowl game to coach.
--------------I wonder if Ash would have recruited these kids in the first place.....better to start over fresh.

Has Ash gotten a verbal yet?
The counter to this argument is that creating and supporting a thread calling into question the competency of a new Head Coach after one week because of a couple of decommitments from the previously incompetent recruiting & coaching staff is an even sadder trend here.

That's one hell of an assumption.
We know more and more, about less and less, until we know everything about nothing.Never have we seen so many know so much about what they can't possibly know.
Your agenda is clearly showing. He also just started following Phil Campbell after he decommited so he probably wants him but just hasn't put in the effort yet. That is kind of unacceptable for being a week in.
We're worried about a kid who apparently got mad about another talented teammate joining him, instead of being really excited, which is the way it works with most top players. That's not tough, not competitive, not in alignment with program goals. If being a big fish in a small pond is what is important to him, then I could see how he would not fit in with the goals of the new regime.
Maybe if we win the B10 east, Ash will get a diamond grill too.In answer to the OP: No. And by extension neither does Urban Meyer or Tom Herman.
You realize we will be able to add a full 25 next year regardless right? Why not fill out the roster and if they aren't a fit they can transfer later. It doesn't impact the number of spots for next year at all.
Apparently the kid is a quitter.
I thought only QBs were afraid to have someone else recruited at their positions.
The timing of those 2 tweets is very telling, and disappointing.
Phil, do you think you will be the only safety at Pitt?

This was discussed when it happened. Wasn't there zero indication that his tweet had anything to do with Rene's commitment?
Back in June - when he made his original decision - he said
"One of the main reasons why I pulled the trigger was because they told me that they were only taking one safety in my class and they wanted that guy to be me," Campbell said. "I was the number one guy on their board. And to me, that stood out among all the other college offers that I had."
Now, many things go into a decision making process & no way do we know them all. However, it is not out of the question that a guy who has always been "the guy" - never played back-up ... would be really really concerned about maintaining that status if playing in his backyard where friends & family see his every move. Maybe being at a school 6 hours away that is not visible 24/7 by every human he knows - maybe the peer pressure he feels is less.
Get the sense that Campbell is a hard working / over achiever - but may have classic gnawing self-doubts - and may be freaked out about the intensity of the degree of "under the microscope" that he might personally feel if he stays local - and it turns out that he just goes up against competition that he can't surpass. Very likely he is terrified at the thought of being second string in an environment where he has always been number one.
I would add stupidI love how when a guy decommits he suddenly is fat slow and sucks.
I would add stupid
Ash should at least call Rashan Gary and his mom back.
The surprise is not that we've lost Morgan, and a few others, the surprise is that -- given all the crap with its' bad publicity, the coaching change, essentially retaining none of the prior staff -- we haven't lost more. The kid stated his connection with RU was through Flood and his guys; now they're all gone.
The decommits are one thing; wait till the transfers kick in early next year. Is Rettig one ?
Most likely Flood was only going to take one Safety in June, however things changed drastically when 3/4 of the RU Secondary got arrested in August. So not so much that he doesn't want to compete, but more that Flood and Co. told him a blatant lie to get him to commit. Unreal.
It's late in the game, almost the entire staff is being replaced and the team has mostly stunk for the last 3 to 4 years; it's definitely an uphill battle. If Ash can just pick up one or two really good late commits I'd be thrilled and that would signal a lot of promise to me.
Odds are he's going to be scrambling for the next couple of years to fill spots. It would be miraclulous if things turned out otherwise.
