besides enjoying, or not enjoying, the three and half hours of entertainment...what happens on any football team that you follow...including the Mountaineers? Does a win or loss change your life? Does it give your life meaning? Is rooting for your knights in armor make you a better person? Are you paid based on the success of the team in any given season? Does it give you an acceptable reason to hate your neighbors or work mates from a "rival"? Or, is sports simply diversion...and entertainment? Just wonderin'

So many posters seem to see their emotions rise and fall with every play of every game that it makes you wonder about the over hyped attention and importance given to a "game". Way too much interest in the actions of a bunch of pre-adults on an outdoor rug.

When I was younger, the win/loss, rooting, rivalries, etc. played a much bigger role.

But, then I grew up, matured, and I put away the childish things. Now, I live and die with every play of those 4 quarters, 2 halves, or 9 innings. But, when the game is over, I'm over it, too. Truth be told, I don't even get that happy or mad (whatever the case may be) any more during those games. I may still yell at the TV, but at least its the PG version, and the young uns can still stay in the room.

It doesn't bother me like it use to. I cheer for my team win or lose. If it's a loss no problem. As far as changing my life, no. Entertainment mostly. Especially on boards where people like bucky and vault live and die.

I would prefer if my team played better sure. Does it control my life outside this board and anywhere else. No.

Win or lose I cheer for WVU. I wouldn't mind if they keep Brown for 50 years.

It is only that important to people who are either personally invested like a coach, player or administrator, or... to someone that is probably living a less than fulfilling life and need to live vicariously through a sports team/coach/player... or if you are a fringe SEC team fan like Mississippi State, then you live through your conference mates since your team isn’t a big winner, thus the “SEC, SEC” chants you here from Non-Bama fans.

When I was about 20 years younger, it completely affected my mood whether WVU won or lost. I couldn’t turn on the tv, read a paper, listen to Sportsline, visit the message boards, anything if WVU lost. I was in a bad mood until they won again.

Then, I got to the point where I had to start stepping back. Now losing still makes me feel sick inside, I can’t help it. But, I don’t let it control me anymore.

I understand that teams with more resources are going to win most of the time, that the majority of teams are not playing on a level playing field and most have the deck stacked against them. Knowing that, I have learned to just appreciate the wins.

That is how I can seamlessly switch from supporting Stew as our coach, to supporting Dana as our coach, to supporting Brown as our coach. Coaches are going to come and go. Enjoy the wins when you get them. Get over the losses when they happen. Move on and support the school, the program, the players and the coach.

Life is too short to go looking for things to get upset over.

If you are a fan of the Mountaineers then it bothers you to see the team struggling as it does under Brown.

obviously this board is overrun by people who havent supported WVU for over a decade if even then. The only thing they care about are their own egos.

But there is a bigger picture here— they told everyone for 8 years running the previous staff was doing terribly and all manner of other lies— when they were actually bringing in the second most wins ever against the toughest schedule. Working hard to bring WVU up from a depleted Big East so it could compete week in and out at the highest levels of cfb.

now that their miracle replacement is showing what actual bad coaching looks like at this level— suddenly they try to convince you- “ it doesnt matter”. Because that way they dont have to own up to what theyve helped to bring about.

It doesnt bother me with losses as much as it used to. Kids and such will do that to you. But it still matters to me. I still think about the next game every day of the week. It meant the world to me to be a west virginian as a teenager no matter where I was and it still.does, I handle the losses better because I fall back on my family, and I still love the success the pride of my state. I know and u understand what we go up against to compete and I appreciate so I wont be in the corner of my kitchen in the dark on top of the heat vent after the pitt loss anymore, but a title in hoops or football, I will cry and never forget the moment. And I will always reject losers like bucky and to$ufag michiganturd that come on here spewing their nonsense

It is entertainment for me. Each year I lose some emotional investment. Nothing I do has an affect so why let it effect my mood?

My hope is that when I'm older and have fewer personal obligations I can grab a few season tickets and make WVU football a more important part of my life...simply because going to Morgantown for football games makes me happy.
