Part of the annual spring rituals, Cal to the NBA. I don't discount the possibility, but I doubt it. One thing I feel strongly about is Cal is a player's first coach. Doesn't mean UK's program doesn't mean a lot to him, but he's made it very clear from the beginning. It's worked out well for all. If he leaves, whatever the year, I think he would put it out there before the current player's make their decisions to go or stay, and before spring commit's make their final decision. In other words he'd do it by late April. At that point the NBA regular season will be over, some heads will roll, and jobs open up, and we'll just have to see. If it doesn't happen by then I think he's back next year.
As many have pointed out the NBA is about the player's, and the college game is about the coaches. He's already been nominated for the HOF because of his accomplishments at the college level not the NBA. He has nothing to prove. There is no unfinished business. Personally, I don't think he's going anywhere. Our detractors have been saying it from day 1. They've been wrong about most everything, and they'll continue to be.
