I could not be more pleased with his priorities: 1) Program Prestige 2) TEAM CHEMISTRY and CONTINUITY 3) consideration for the Fanbase and Alumnus

I cannot help thinking when I tune in to watch the first game of the season that I was watching the University of Alaska Anchorage. There is nobody from the last season to relate to… There is just no way to get bonded to any of these teams.

maybe Chinese amateur basketball players will be recruited to use UK as a platform so they can go back to China and play professional Chinese basketball-that will happen before we ever see continuity of a team like we used to be accustomed.

Of course, not. I would just like to see better coaching moves during the game to win them, rather than provide learning experiences. If you want a particular guy to have the ball, simply demand the others get it to him, as an example, rather than talk about how they failed to do it.

Cal is not going to change. He’s going to have a lot of successful seasons but winning championships isn’t going to happen. Look at all the great talent and teams he’s assembled over his career and only managed one with the help of a freak known as AD. His system has extremely poor results as it relates to titles. That’s backed up with data.

Like most on here I’d like to see some changes but I’ve never advocated for his removal and likely never will.

I’d love him to install a legit full court press, with traps in the corners. Seems if they aren’t great shooters you’d leverage their length and athleticism for about 10 easy points per game. Seems obvious but I’m no coach.

So here is the poll...
Before the season I posted something like this (not a poll, just a general question). not one poster said they wanted him gone.
Everyone that posted in response said that nobody wants him gone, it’s just criticism.
11 games into season a thread is started saying he should move on and that post has about 30 likes.
So, what gives?
Finally a poster has the balls to say it, and suddenly there are many who want him gone.

Most of the people who voted that they wanted Cal out are probably opposing coaches. Any Kentucky fans that voted they wanted him out are total idiots. I didn’t realize that there’s that many stupid UK fans. Who’s better that could be hired?

Definitely no but I do want to see him make some changes.

1) more up tempo offense. It’s considerably easier to score when not having to go up against a settled defense. Let the athletes go out and run
2) more shooting. It’s 2020, not 2000. Adapt to the modern game on offense.
3) more multi year players. Juniors and seniors are valuable and can be every bit as good or better than 99% of freshmen
4) end the culture where players feel like they are failures if they don’t leave after a year or two and thus they leave even if they aren’t likely to get drafted

Nice! Now hopefully all the Cal Haters can gtfo or shut up. I just don't see who you could actually get to replace Cal. Payne? Antigua? All former Cal associates. Not to mention Antigua has not done well at all on his own. Who can actually bring in the top recruiting class every year (On average) and win 30 games on a consistent basis? I'll wait.

No one. Chris Beard can't do it, Tony Bennet aint leaving Virginia. Wade is in trouble. I know there are some Pearl fanboys as well but I don't think we want to go through another probation period. I bet a lot of you would rather have Rick back!

I don’t think we can get anyone to match Cals first 5 yrs .........but I think ALOT of coaches could match what he’s done since 2015 . Where does leave us ? I’m not sure .

I know people are pissed about losing to Richmond a Top 20 veteran team, but what other coaches could have done better with their main returnee out and 10 guys who have never played together or for him? In a year where there are zero preseason games and you play a good team in your second game due to one cupcake canceling? In a game where we had double-digit misses from the FT line (no excuse ever for that). Love or hate Cal that's a tough-*** spot to be in and we played like crap and couldn't buy a shot.

Cal is the architect of the roster, for better or worse. So you could say “who could do better with this roster” I guess, but it’s Cal’s roster.

The trends show cal has put it on cruise control. uK isn’t the program for a coach to put it on cruise. Change or move aside for someone who is hungry to win titles and prove themselves

Cal is Cal. There is not going to be any changes. Just stop the passive aggressive crap about wanting him to change things up. Either get on board or you aren’t needed. This is Kentucky.

Well I don’t think you are needed. How about that? Actually, I pretty much know you aren’t. My dog seems to fart just fine without you sucking up her *** and pretending she’s Cal.

Voted no, but I’m annoyed with him.

1. Half court offense is atrocious, tweak it.
2. Recruit the best pure shooters in every class please.
3. Stop saying the same things after every season and games. The excuses he uses are his fault.

At this point, I don’t want him gone. BUT, I don’t think the UK basketball program would fall apart without him like some folks think it would.

correct then in Dec 19 and correct now , but here we are with no change .

This poll is from 2019. And lol at “Beard can’t do it”. The best up and coming coach in basketball, who’s been better than cal of late, and at a doormat like TT, can just be written off with your little comment. Nice try.

Don’t worry. Beard will be at Kansas. Can’t wait to allow him a year or two to actually build a college roster at a blue blood with those resources, and face Cals young, raw, rated #12 in class freshman to try and handle it.

Good friggin grief.

No I don't want Cal gone, but there is really no answer in college basketball. Villanova won two championships and went back to very pedestrian. This one and done stuff makes it very hard to build a team. The best players have figured out that going to a blue blood is not much better than staying home for a clunker team as far as the draft is concerned. Last year's two highest player for a blue blood went #16 (had a horrible season) and 2nd round. It's now to the point of going to Kentucky because you want to improve your stock more so than I'm the best players. Cal recruited 1st pick Anthony Edward and Wiseman pretty hard and both decided to stay closer to home and play for bad teams. Both are still millionaires.

Nope, just want to see some tweaks that the normal average fan can relate to. Adjustments. A few more set offenses rather than asking freshmen to "create" their own. Less AAU and more Division I college basketball. Less NBA draft talk (I'm fine if we have kids leave that should leave, but let it happen in the background and be humble about it).
Well said !
