Just some guy's opinion. I guess the basics make sense.. the best jobs will have some elements of fan base support, history, recruiting talent nearby.. you could probably jumble them up into good, better, and best categories, just on the basis of what a coaching job pays alone.

I can understand why we are where we are. The only two I could non-homer say we should maybe jump would be Tennessee and Washington, and I can see the argument for both.

If a program hired Mike Riley, they aren't even deserving of being a top 20 ranking.

Every school makes bone-headed hires. We've just made poor AD hires, which resulted in back to back to back poor coaching hires. But even then, who thought Pederson would botch his hire as badly as he did? And TO didn't make a 'bad' hire per se. Bo was just stubborn, and wouldn't change his defense to suite our new conference. But Perlman went completely rogue and made the absolute worst hire he could manage.

Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, USC, Florida State, Washington, A&M, Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame.. All have made poor coaching hires in the last 20 years. Alabama is a good example of another program that made multiple poor hires in a row. Note Dame as well. Even Oklahoma had 3 bad hires in a row.

Problem is that the talent has dried up in the program. Two draft picks in the past 3 years. That's not attractive for prospective coaches thus lower rating. We need to be aware the difficulty Frost has in front of him and that we are fortunate he came here instead of taking a different job.

This article ranked every D1 coaching job. Has Nebraska at 19. Seems nuts considering we are blue blood. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/ranking-all-130-college-football-coaching-jobs-2019
I feel like this dude was taking the browns to the super bowl when he wrote this article on his smart phone or tablet, case in point:

95. Central Michigan

Central Michigan lags behind its in-state rival Western Michigan in expenses (38.5 million to 31.8), but this program has a higher winning percentage (.545 to .524). The Chippewas bottomed out with a 1-11 mark in 2018. However, Central Michigan isn’t far removed from an 11-win season in 2009 and a nine-win mark in ’06.

Let that "logic" set in.
