Big Lew? I know nothing about baseball, but here's my ranking: Defense C+, Power B+, Hitting for average D, Grit A.

I'm assuming there's better catchers out there, but he'll be better next year. Do we resign him as our starter or try to find another catcher in the portal?

He looks like he he has the ability to Hit better , I’d resign him. He’d be a good prospect if he’d bring his average up a bit.

The SS looks lost at the plate, pressing, swinging at bad pitches can’t identify a good pitch.

I dint know how well he hits or if he’s got any eligibility left, but I’d take that Cincy catcher if I could. He saved their pitchers several wild pitches last night.
Think he'll go pro, he's a junior hitting 342 with 19 bombs and we know MLB values catchers.

I honestly think we're fine with Milewski. I'd rather go get that Coats dude from Cincy to play 1B next year. Hitting 340 with 28 bombs. I mean this is how it's done, this is how folks ID players, especially baseball. Come to our regional, we'll take yo players. Did it to VCU and Campbell.

We are a MUCH better baseball team when he is in the lineup.

We need to recruit in portal above him.

Both things can be true.
That says more about our other catchers then it says we have a good starting catcher. I like the guy & if we just can’t get someone better then yeah. Keep him. But I can’t imagine we can’t identify & get someone better. We can’t just keep marginal players around because we like them. Maybe as a backup.

Keep him and hope that Brick makes it to campus. Lew has been hurt off and on all year; if he can stay healthy, his average may improve. Of course, he might stay hurt next year too. All of that said, dude has some fire and he is pretty clutch. He also seems like our best leader. He shouldn’t cost too much, so spend that money someplace else.

Big Lew has intangibles that cannot be measured in your little stat book. His mom told me likes it in Starkville and will probably come back. He runs the pitchers so well in a game. They like to throw to him. He encourages and motives like a leader should. Even Theo Epstein knows that baseball is not all stat driven.

Being I injury prone is something to consider, i don't know his durability in previous seasons.

Intangibles are great. But a catcher who can hit .300 with 10 more HRs and block wild pitches would be great too.

That's all great, but him wanting to come back is only part of the equation. He's average defensively and and his batting average isn't good.

The issue is can we find a better catcher, at a reasonable price. Better catchers are out there, Cincinnati's catcher is a decent upgrade over Lew.

Woodson is going to blow up this summer.

I doubt Will Brick makes it to campus but we were wrong about Bauer and Jake, so anything's possible I guess. He could ask for too much money like Jack did.

Milewski has an xBA of like .278, so in sabermetric terms, he's been getting a lot of crummy breaks there. I'd keep him.

I certainly hope he does something different. He leads the team in strike outs, he's got the lowest batting average of all the regulars, lowest on base percentage, lowest fielding percentage and leads the team in errors by a long shot. He has 12 errors and the closest other player to that is at only 3. Only 1 player w/ less RBI's than him and that's Bryce who was relegated to batting 9th which means he had fewer people batting ahead of him getting on base i.e. people w/ low batting avgs like Woodson and Lew. There HAS to be better options out there

Big Lew is fine. I wish stealing 2nd wasn't so easy on us though. I wonder what our opponent's success rate is?
