What kind of Mercedes? Sedan? GWagon?

DJ is in town for a reason.

Did you also know that DJ scored the winning touchdown vs Miami back in January 1987?

My wife Kar follows all of the PSU athletics programs closely and related to me about Matt's call outs to lettermen ........

"Lettermen have been a crucial asset of Penn State for years. James Franklin littered his staff with them, but many departed when Matt Campbell took over, and Terry Smith is now the lone assistant coach who played for Penn State.

But that doesn’t mean Campbell is ignoring lettermen entirely. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. He’s made it a goal from the beginning to teach his players the rich history of Penn State, and the biggest aspect of that is bringing lettermen back around the program.

“The history of this football program, to be able to represent this, to understand the lineage, it's bigger than me. It's bigger than any of us,” Campbell said Tuesday. “What we're upholding every day we go on a practice field, and certainly, anytime you get the opportunity to put that uniform on and step in that stadium, you have to know what you're representing.”

Believe it was a wagon, SUV type, my cousin rode in the elevator with him. Didn't think to snap a photo, by then the car was moved.

Personal story, if you allow it:

In the summer of 1985, my family took a trip to visit friends. Of course, we had to make time for the pilgrimage to State College.

We arrived in the morning, walked around the facilities and a young man greeted us as he was leaving his apartment/dorm. He was very polite and welcoming as we told him of our trek up from Texas . My younger son (4 then) told him he liked DJ Dozier. The young man -- Darryl Washington -- asked my sons "Would you like to meet him?"

Darryl then walked the 3 of us (my wife stayed behind at Darryl's suggestion, as he knew DJ and roomie would likely be less than fully dressed). When DJ opened the door, my sons looked as if they were seeing Superman. Dozier, dressed only in shorts and sandals, welcomed all 4 of us into his home.

He offered us breakfast, but we declined, feeling a combination of embarrassment and awe. DJ asked us about our trip north and was very curious about what it was like living in Texas. He said he considered going to UT-Austin at some point. He signed autographs for both of my sons, and as we were about to exit, his roommate appeared.

From one of the rooms came a towering giant of a man who introduced himself as Tim Johnson. He, too, was very polite and welcoming to us 3 interlopers. We expressed our thanks and best wishes for the 1985 season, and then Darryl walked us back to my waiting spouse who could spot the beaming smiles on all 3 of us.

Little did we know then that about a year-and-a-half later, Dozier would score the winning touchdown while Johnson would make a critical 4th-quarter sack to cap a 12-0 National Championship season!

The Franklin stench has now been removed from the air. It took about 6 months but it is finally gone.
