There isn't a perfect coach out there. No matter who it is, the selection couldn't possibly please everyone. That said, everyone agrees it was time to move on and whoever Trev picks will have a hard time being worse than Frost.I feel like there will be some stat that I will hang on that will make me feel disappointed in whomever NU hires as the new head coach. Anyone else out there feel the same?
Nobody even remotely qualified is going to sign an incentive based deal. We will pay a coach big money. That won’t be the issue. There isn't a perfect coach out there. The main issue I see is money. I think the next person needs to be on a mostly incentive based contract.
Replace Leach with Gundy and add Stoops and I am good with your list!personally, I will be at least somewhat hopeful if the hire is any of the following:
Kiffin
Leach
Aranda
Clawson
Doeren
Rhule
Leipold
Kleiman
Fickell
Well I don’t want Fickell. I’ve seen too many stupid coaching decisions during games from him.I think the only way to have a mass majority happy fan base is if Mickey had a fantastic finish to the year where the Huskers ended up like 8-4. I think every other situation is going to leave a good percentage of fans on happy.
Fickell is the next guy on the list that most would probably feel happy with but I feel like Mickey has a better shot @ going 8-4 then we do winning over Fickell
It wasn't that long ago OSU fans referred to him as Luke "Fecal".Well I don’t want Fickell. I’ve seen too many stupid coaching decisions during games from him.
Gundy ain’t coming, he’s got that rolling 5 year lifetime contract now.Replace Leach with Gundy and add Stoops and I am good with your list!
I agree with what you are saying but I also think the amount we pay does contribute to the disappointment. The guaranteed salaries these coaches demand come with higher expectations and I don't think there is anyone on our list of candidates who can meet those expectations. On the other hand, I would be happy with giving a chance to many of the coaches on our list if we didn't overpay for the most likely results (8-9 win ceiling for the foreseeable future). How about a compromise? Pay what the going rate is for an 8 win coach + 1-2 million for each additional win over 8?Nobody even remotely qualified is going to sign an incentive based deal. We will pay a coach big money. That won’t be the issue
Not in the least. There are a few different coaches out there who could do really well with our program.I feel like there will be some stat that I will hang on that will make me feel disappointed in whomever NU hires as the new head coach. Anyone else out there feel the same?
I get what your saying but I cant imagine anyone wanting to do that. Look at who they are inheriting. No way we make crap into gold in a couple seasons with our current players and development program. Nobody is going to not get paid reasonably for the amount of time to recruit people to their system. There isn't a perfect coach out there. You are feeling the effects of 25 years of inept decisions regarding our head coaching position. While it is good to be optimistic, you have every reason to believe our administrators will screw up. It’s what they do.SickI feel like there will be some stat that I will hang on that will make me feel disappointed in whomever NU hires as the new head coach. Anyone else out there feel the same?
5. However they hand out the blackshirts, it will be done wrong.See if I have this correct. We only want a proven P5 coach knowing there are what, 5 or so that fit the bill? Why would any of those be coming here?
It is OK to be disappointed, I sometimes think my wife has been over the last 50 years, people aren't perfect. And sure, not getting your hearts desire for a coach has nothing to do with the outcome.
I chuckle at the comments about it can't get worse than what we just had. Seems I have heard that same statement many times over the last 20+ years.
The only things we can truly count on are these:
1. They won't run the ball enough
2. They won't call the right plays
3. They should play the second team QB and possibly start them.
4. We should blitz more.
That about covers most disappointments . We are working with imperfect humans after all.
Only Chadwell out of the 5 is G5 (Sunbelt conf).Leipold
Aranda
Chadwell
Klieman
Rhule
They have all proven they can win at a P5 school. I would be content with any of them.
oops. Yep. fixed itOnly Chadwell out of the 5 is G5 (Sunbelt conf).
He can never seem to make up his mind.Well I don’t want Fickell. I’ve seen too many stupid coaching decisions during games from him.
Yes. It is apparent there will be a whole chunk of butthurt fans yet again. Then the cycle starts over.I feel like there will be some stat that I will hang on that will make me feel disappointed in whomever NU hires as the new head coach. Anyone else out there feel the same?
Soooo, one might sayyyy...that he is rather...fickle?He can never seem to make up his mind.
Good one.5. However they hand out the blackshirts, it will be done wrong.
Reminds me of the guy who dies a virgin because he is holding out for a supermodel.I feel like there will be some stat that I will hang on that will make me feel disappointed in whomever NU hires as the new head coach. Anyone else out there feel the same?
I'll bet your wife would disagree that she has been disappointed.....See if I have this correct. We only want a proven P5 coach knowing there are what, 5 or so that fit the bill? Why would any of those be coming here?

Wait a minute?I’ll probably be okay with whoever is hired. I trust that those in charge know more about the situation than I do.
Until it starts going south that is.
