With stats like this we should pay him at least 3 million….
If Pate is our best player next season, UK will not make tournament

Weakness
Shooting: Over his two seasons in the G League, Pate had some truly woeful shooting numbers. Hit hit only 27.6 percent of his three-point attempts and made just 38.9 percent from the field overall. If he can't figure out how to become even an average shooter, his NBA career may not last long.
Awareness: Though not unusual for a teenager, Pate often appeared to be reacting to plays just a half-step or so late on both ends of the floor. In the NBA, that's a recipe for time on the bench.

Doesn't get to the free throw line either. At all. A 6-8 ball-dominant guard and in 3 G League years he averaged less than 1 FTM and 1.5 FTA. For context, those are similar to Collin Chandler, who's primarily a catch-and-shoot guy.
Plus, the G League sucks.

I wish I could remember the guys name on here that said when Cal left that our recruiting would be terrible and he was adamant about it. I took up for Pope and said he would do fine recruiting. I sure wish I hadn’t of taken up for Pope now. If you’re reading this sorry about that.
A long College 2, who plays G-League 1 and has the size to play 3 and who has seen his stats improve each year, he is a take. However, he is not a $3M take to be a star. He is a take to bring in some experience and skill at multiple positions. Can't say no to pieces like that. That said, you still need 5-6 players better than him on the roster.
Missouri hasn't hired his dad yet, which I'm sure they will announce after he has left high school. Crowe Sr is still coaching him in High school and so much for him and Hart being friends for 30 years. Dink 37.7% this year versus 26.1% and 21.4%. Not saying he is a bad player at all just stating what the scouts say about his game and weaknesses. Shooting and basketball IQ were top 2 weaknesses.

You may be right, the two G League guys who returned to college this year really didn’t impact their teams much.
Not better than Chandler, not better than Williams, unknown if better than Hawthorne.
I just don’t understand why Pope keeps going after these kind of guards when his offense is supposed to be about shooting and efficiency. This guy isn’t a great athlete, facilitator, or defender either so it’s not like there’s a worthy trade off for the inefficient scoring
Chandler is hot and cold, can't create a shot if guarded tightly.

Pate is a PG and his 3 has improved but we don’t need him to shoot 3s, we need his speed, passing ability and matchup nightmare as a 6’8 PG. he would be a top 20 recruit if he was in this class. Personally im excited we will get him. Need a lot more pieces but it’s a good start.

Pate doesn't play PG really. Bryson Warren is the primary PG, as well as Dillon Jones, before he went on to the NBA. Pate seems like an ideal combo guard for college.
Pate is outscoring Antonio Reeves though in this same league (and with a higher 3pt% this year)
Adding an elite transfer PG is the absolute must for this off-season and Pate isn't that.
After that, Williams or Chandler could come off the bench, and that lineup does start to look rather good.
