IUse2be played way over its head to beat Calipari’s second weakest team on an off night for Jamal Murray, then reverted to the norm the next game. It was totally predictable.

With no inside presence I doubt Kentucky would have beaten that UNC-CHeats team, so yes, it was a relatively painless loss if the Cats weren't even going to the Elite Eight: That’s the baseline for a decent season that Kentucky has reached 16 times since 1993 - and which Indiana has reached once.
Can ya just talk basketball? I mean, Indiana was a pretty damn good team, that year. Had 5 guys that played in the NBA---OG Anunoby, THomas Bryant, Yogi Ferrell, Troy Williams and Juwan Morgan.. MOF, both IU/UK were grossly under seeded.....

How did IU play "way over its head"? We shot 28% from "3" in that game. For the season, IU shot 42%....Shot 41% for the game...On the season, IU shot 56%...

One thing you are right about---IU did revert to the norm, vs UNC....Well, somewhat. IU shot 41% from three....Hitting 13. Unfortunate for us, UNC shot it very well, early and often---I believe they hit their first 8 three's.

Anyways...I thought the UK game would be the tougher of the two. Didn't think UNC could shoot from three....That night, they did.

That 2016 group is an interesting case. If Skal and Briscoe weren't disappointing performers, that team would have been quite outstanding. We just needed one to not be horrible.

With Briscoe sucking like he did and Skal being a solid to good player instead, this lineup would have been feasible:

Ulis
Murray
Poythress
Willis
Skal

Poythress could match up and defend the opponents 3 while Willis and Skal handle the post players. On offense, Poythress can play the post while Skal and Willis play face up games.

And then if Briscoe wasn't a historically bad shooter, the starting lineup we ended up settling on would have been even stronger in the event Briscoe doesn't bust and Skal does.
