Rutgers got really solid minutes from Mathis and Harper tonight. Kiss wasn’t invisible out on the court which took pressure of baker, who really was impressive. Baker looked calm and confident which I didn’t see vs St. John’s. Also the defense was superb tonight, we made Miami look really sloppy and it showed through their turnovers. Certainly not the best we could have played but it got the job done and showed a flash of how this team can be in the big ten.

Kiss did enough tonight. Issa was disappointing on O but not invisible. Harper’s IQ is A+.

Agreed. Issa needs to step it up and make one or two more threes. However it is encouraging that Issa didn’t play well and this team won. Shows guys can step up. Also Harper is going to be real good by his senior year. As you said, very intelligent player

Difference was defensive effort was outstanding as it has been since the St Johns game ironically. Sometimes a kick in the *** is needed and beneficial in the long run

I said earlier that we needed more from Kiss, Harper and Johnson.....Kiss and Harper played better, and we needed every point we got

the defense looked great, and the game was won on the next to last shot, the three pointer blocked by Gio....after that, Miami looked rattled and the
second three pointer had a much less chance of being good, a more hurried shot

went to read the Seton Hall board.....of course they were rooting for Miami, because in the long run Miami winning makes the Hall win look even better....,

several fans were more inclined to discredit Miami, saying they looked tired, and the
home crowd was dead, did not help, etc

typical response....a few did note that we played
excellent defense.....which we did

Typical of them. Still much harder to get that win on their home court than on some neutral court where no one watching the game cares about either team.

Difference between this game and St. John’s is that Miami didn’t shoot out of their damn minds.

Prettt much can end it there lol.

We probably won’t face a better shooting performance from beyond the arc all year.

Agreed. Bummed that Thiam’s shot is not falling, but the kid earns his minutes with great D!

Question to those that know basketball very well. Why wouldn’t we try to post Issa up more and get himebthe ball low when being defended by smaller guards? There was one possession where the small PG was guarding him. I know he is not a post player but he probably can hit a 10 foot turnaround over a smaller guard.

for SJU they were too jacked and then were scared of SJU. When adversity hit they had no response. The frosh were deer...gerber babies. Tonight they faced it and fought and grew up. Tonight they were confident in the gameplan and their abilities. Alot of growing up between those two games and there was alot of learning lessons taking from that loss

That was only 1 possession and it isn’t easy with a 30 second shot clock. Pike does call a specific set that is designed to get Issa on the low block

We should. One of the few beefs I have with Pike’s offense is that we do not do a good job of exploiting our size advantage. For example, Doorson was 0-0 tonight and he’s shooting 92% so far this year!

I do t know why we don’t do this more with Issa. He has worked on his low post moves, it’s easy to see that.

I don’t know why we don’t call that play, but Coach Pike knows way more than me and he is obviously looking to ru different sets than you and me.

Great win. Go Knights!

Biggest difference was in the opponent’s shooting. Miami missed the looks SJU nailed time after time after time.

I agree with those that point to Saint John’s shooting as a bit of an aberration. The defense was not THAT bad. They just hit so many shots from the arc that were contested or shots from way beyond to the arc in transition.

I don't think his low post game is there yet. Not consistently at least. But I get what you're saying. A little jump hook would be nice to see

Issa had a very good game. Yes he missed a few shots but his defense was spectacular shutting down their two guard like he did. He cannot make every shot he takes. I'm sure he used a lot of his energy on defense.
