Did the refs cost us the game? Yes, I think they did. You don't have to call a lot of fouls on a team to cost them the game, you only have to call 2 on a player in the first half, especially if he is one of your best players. Fox had his second foul called on him with over 12 minutes to go in the half. To the bench he goes. Then Monk and Bam got two in the first half. To the bench they go. Your studs are out of the game, until the second half.
It is so easy for a ref to control the game, and eliminate a team's chance of winning, with just 3 or 4 fouls. Don't call them on a player who is not going to hurt the other team. Call them on the players you want out of the game. Two fouls in the first half, and a quick foul in the second half, and you have control of the game.
A ref can call blocking on the defensive player, or charging on the offensive player, just about every drive to the basket, when there is contact.
