Did John Cook concede the 3rd game-set?

Ladies were getting blown off the court and by mid-way through the game coach Cook might have decided to concede and save the teams energy for the 4th set. Just wondering because the Huskers came out in the 4th game and put it to the Cardinal pretty good. Hmmm, deep thoughts.

No. You play all out out every game. He was beaten by the better team. Not that far off , though.

The ladies certainly didn't look all scrappy and playing balls-out in the 3rd set like they were in the 4th and 5th... but those last 2 sets were some pretty damn good volleyball though.

My wife and I both thought they might have conceded the 3rd set and saved some energy, but who knows if they actually did. I wouldn't blame them if they did... How often does a team come back from a 9 point deficit?

Stanford was on a hell of a tear in the 3rd...

We were never gonna come back in the 3rd just as Stanford wasn't in the 4th. Too big of a deficit against elite competition. All they could do is try to recapture momentum for the next set.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that after you're down by 10 points in a set, if your back isn't against the wall, you aren't going to play with the fervor that you ordinarily play with if it's do or die.

It happened to both us and Stanford yesterday. Both teams knew they more than likely weren't going to come back from being 10 down, and they both played like it.
