Did Coach Cal already know?

I think it's a fair question whether he knew Brown was going elsewhere.
If Brown strung Calipari along after the recruiting misses we've had, only to shun us, maybe or maybe not Calipari already knew.
If Brown ( and Newman, Diallo, etc.) indeed used Calipari and the BBN to only fix eyes on California and Cuanzo, then Calipari should be really pissed and never put himself nor UK in that position to ever be used to promote an inferior program again.

I noticed during the press conference last Wednesday that Tyler Ullis stated the team had enough talent to succeed even if they didn't sign another player. That struck me as an admission that recruiting was over. He sounded as if the team was set.

The recruiting game goes in many different directions. Cal has been the most successful recruiter in the game for the last 5 years. Even if the kid used the anticipation of his commitment to gain attention, Coach Cal has been around long enough to know how to deal with any recruiting situation. Cal will use this season's recruiting losses as a positive for the next class.

I seriously doubt players are in the loop on the strategic planning of recruiting.

they aren't at all . One way or another we will add 1 more player , maybe 2 if Murray reclassifies . . Cal never quits . Buttttt , if we don't we are good still.

I would wager that many of the current players and recruits don't desperately want a boatload of highly ranked recruits coming in, if they believe in themselves.

We've been trying to add plsyere, but all of the legitimate attempts have been stifled.

the only way Cal can "never" put himself in that position, is to stop recruiting. I mean, how is he supposed to know if someone is just listing UK to promote a program, which I seriously doubt any of these recruits did? I don't think they planned on using UK. They had a tough decision and did what they thought was best for them. Doesn't matter what you or I think. Now, do you think that is what JR did a few years back? When he said he knew in October where he was going? Did he string along those other schools?

Well the accusation opponents use that Cal cheats to recruit went out the window. With so many misses and spots available if there was a time to cheat it would be this recruiting season. Another myth bites the dust.
