Did anyone get a reply from Hobbs?

Just, curious. I sent two emails and figured at lesst would get a generic reply. Haven’t gotten anything.

The response I got:

“I don’t know who the hell this ash guy is but judging by the 37 emails I received, it sounds like he owes you money? Don’t know anything about this $10 million (did you even research this guy before shelling out that much dough?)

And stop telling me to hire this Gary Schiano fella. If he wants a job at my Walgreens, he has to apply online like everyone else.

I don’t have a doctor named Barchi, so why again should I be worried about him firing me?

And oh yeah, what the heck is a rutgerrs?

Cordially (but please stop harassing me),

Patrick Hobs”

For the record, you are all emailing a mailing list that he is on. Not his work email address.

I am not sure if he reads them or someone filters them out for him or how that works.

Dear Angry Rutgers Fan,
I am sorry to hear about your disappointment in the results of the football team this year. I would advise that you put your efforts into a better cause, for example, a campaign to reduce property tax. Property tax has gotten way out of hand and nobody makes a peep. Instead they keep emailing me about the football team. Ash can not do anything about our outrageous property tax.
Sincerely,
Hobbs

so you just asked does he(Hobbs) reply to the ad email address on school site, she said no..and there wasnt a valid email given?

It was an exchange that was part of a much larger and more casual conversation more than a year ago.

Suppose you e-mail "[email protected]." Your e-mail goes to staff, who may or may not forward the e-mail to Barchi. That's how it's worked under other presidents and other high university officials. By contrast, Dick McCormick, whatever his flaws, could be e-mailed directly if you knew his address, which I did. The same with Wendell Pritchett when he was chancellor at Camden; he gave me his direct e-mail address, which I took as meaning that the staff did not always send him all the e-mail that might interest him.

My guess (and it's just that) is that Hobbs gets a summary of the daily e-mail, so he probably knows how discouraged and angry the fan base is. Of course, that would be easy for him to figure that out without e-mail. I think the only e-mail that would particularly interest him would be articulate e-mail that has a credible offer of a large donation. I find it hard to believe that Barchi would agree to using a lot of scarce University money to get rid of Ash, as poor a coach as he has proven to be so far.

Pat Hobbs sees precisely none of the email sent to [email protected].

That is disheartening.

I received a personally written email from Pernetti as a response to an email to that address. Julie (or her staff) also replied to me on an email to that address.

I have never tried Hobbs, but its too bad if he has ended that personal level. It should be there when warranted, and I would think he would be on that as a fundraising first type of guy.

Hobbs has responded in the past to emails that my wife has sent to [email protected].

I would guess that he has a staff that goes through the messages sent to [email protected], and the staff decides which get forwarded to Hobbs, or forwarded elsewhere, or not forwarded at all. I would also guess that even emails sent to his personal email address are screened by an assistant.

I won't post his work email here but I am sure people really want to know can figure it out with ease as long as they have internet access.

want Hobbs' attention , try implying you want to donate some $$$$ in your e-mail to him.
Then after he responds, send him the message you planned to send in first place.

Whatever her faults, Julie personally responded to an email I sent a few years ago about a ticket screw up by Rutgers, then personally followed up the next day to make sure it was fixed.

Probably took one total minute of her time but left the feeling that someone cared about the department's customers.

Fred Gruninger used to return calls within the hour. And it was kinda tough to get him off the phone...

Note to self - 2 of the worst ADs ever were great about returning fans' calls and emails. So, now I'm hoping Hobbs never responds. ;)
