Well, he's half right. The entire scandal goes away with a cash settlement.
Exactly. We finally have the smoking gun against puke and it will probably never be official in any court documents. Settling for sure before Zion ever has to testify. Between this and the bagley’s and Magette, they will skate once more. Pathetic.

It’s simply the Kansas defense. We “didn’t know” so it’s not on us. The reality is it was widely known even to the point of the house being public knowledge while he was at Duke. Choosing to ignore it and not ask makes them innocent? We all know the idea of pretending the coaches and Universities aren’t aware of what shoe co’s and others are doing is just a way around the rules. If it happens to come out about UK I will say the same. It may be the way things are in CBB, but Duke and Coach K are certainly as dirty and complicit as all others- maybe even more so

When he said Duke’s AD had an investigation which concluded there was no wrongdoing as if that **** should be believed, he cemented himself as one of the biggest clowns in the media. His hypocrisy with regard to Duke as opposed to Arizona and others is disgusting. His stellar charity work with regard to children with cancer is the only reason I won’t slam him any further.
Amen, brother. Spot on.

Dickie V got the call from Coach K, already setting the narrative. K knows DV has hundreds of thousands of followers on Social media. And of course, the DV lovers will fall in tow and preach the company line. Settlement, no testimony, No Zion or family testimony, and K skates again, like with Thomas, Maggetti etc

That contract of Zions could be worth hundreds of millions. I wonder if this doesn't turn into a dog fight until it ends in court. If you have the goods on him, why would you stop?

His amateur status is critical to the case. If it goes to trial, he and K will have to testify. Whether they the truth and whether there’s hard evidence is TBD. We all see what happened, proving it in a court of law is a little different.

Um, the NIT is just a tournament.

From Wiki:

The National Invitation Tournament (NIT) is a men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Played at regional sites and at Madison Square Garden (Final Four) in New York City each March and April, it was founded in 1938 and was originally the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball.

Over time it became eclipsed by the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament—now known informally as "March Madness".

It was just a tournament, but some organization needs to take over once the NCAA implodes (my dream)--too much money and corruption; i.e. the scales of justice apparently always has one eye open peaking underneath the blindfold.

This is the Yahoo story on Zion, coach K, and Dook that I read the other day that breaks things down well. It outlines why Dook probably won't see any issues with the NCAA.

They are lucky this is about money for Ford getting screwed over and nothing else, but more has come out already than they ever imagined and shows K is a cheating bastard. I knew there was no way he could out of nowhere start going head to head with Cal. Cal is the best recruiter in the nation and then others started to catch up. Now we know why.

But it's a tournament ran by the NCAA. That would mean the NCAA is taking over from the NCAA.

ever think you'd see the day when someone would readily admit a player or their family got cars & a house & shoe MONEY and with a straight face say its all above board?

remember when a $1000 in an emery envelope would get your school on probation?

now that's the same as cream cheese on a bagel

RECE DAVIS: So let's hear from our own hall-of-famer, Dick Vitale, live from his home in Florida. Dick, what do you make of these allegations?

DICKIE V: Imma tell you this RIGHT NOW, Rece, and you already know this very well, but for all the viewers at home: There is NO WAY that Coach K knew anything about any money or homes or whatever being given to Zion Williamson, that special young man! NONE! You know Zion, plays for the Pelicans, the last time I was in New Orleans I ran into my man Harry Connick, Jr., what a great guy! He told me this, Rece, I never knew this before: Did you know his wife used to model for Victoria's Secret?! WOW, MAN, WHAT A BEAUTY!

RECE: Yes, Dick, but...

DICKIE V: Coach K is a humanitarian, a leader of young men, the best coach that intercollegiate basketball has ever seen, man! He is by the book, one-hundred percent, no way this guy cheats; he learned from the General, Robert Montgomery Knight, come on! I was talkin' to Coach Knight on the phone the other day, he asked me if he was talkin' to Al McGuire or Billy Packer! What a kidda, the General! UHAHAHA! But to see what, his pupil, Coach K, has done for the Jimmy V Foundation, how much money he has raised for cancer research the lives he has touched, the scholar-athletes he has graduated, how much he loved Kobe Bryant, there is NO WAY he has ever cheated! He graduated from West Point, baby, they live by the honor code, man!

RECE: Dick, some of the claims in the lawsuit...

DICKIE V: All this talk of Coach K being a cheater is pure jealousy, man, just a bunch of sour grapes from people who can't beat him, the greatest coach of all time! If Zion or his family got anything it wasn't from Coach K, baby! He is AWESOME WITH A CAPITAL A, the all-time winner in college basketball, a hall-of-famer, my Polish paisan! Get outta here with all this talk of Coach K being a cheater, are you kiddin' me? These five-stars are linin' up to play in front of the Cameron Crazies, man, like all of our special special donors are lining up to give to the V Foundation. Get this, Rece, we're gonna have an auction where the winners get to fly down and have dinner with me once we're out of the virus! I can't believe it, me, a one-eyed coach from Jersey has been put in such a position. God has blessed me so much, Rece!

RECE: So, Dick, Zion's family was living...

DICKIE V: I'm sorry, Rece, I gotta go, man, havin' a virtual breakfast from the Broken Egg with Rick Pitino and Bill Self! Love these coaches, baby!"

That is spot on my man!

LOL... I hear what you're saying.... The NCAA actually bought out the NIT years ago, and as you point out, run the NIT tournament. Maybe i should be more precise and say... The NCAA governing body is a bunch of low life, scum that's corrupt by money and power and should be replaced by someone else...!

The governing body are the schools. Capilouto is currently a member of the NCAA board of governors. They could meet Monday morning and fire Emmert if they thought he was acting outside their guidelines.

What guidelines?
They are his boss. Whatever they tell him to do are his guidelines. If he is allowed to free range and cowboy those are his guidelines. If they give specific instructions those are his guidelines. If they didn't like it they would fire him. So any of the stuff people accuse him of doing lies directly at the feet of his bosses. Doesn't matter if he has leeway or influence to do what he wants, he still answers to the list of people below:

http://web1.ncaa.org/committees/committees_roster.jsp?CommitteeName=EXEC

Those people employ him.

They haven't followed guidelines in the past. The NCAA themselves has not been consistent in following any guidelines. They pick and choose their pets. UNC and Duke get a free pass and Cleveland State better watch out.

This is about what his bosses are telling him to do or allowing him to do. Not about NCAA rules.

If he does not enforce or follow NCAA rules or he does stuff that most people believe is unethical and the board of governors do not fire him then they approve of his actions.

The board of governors are made up of mostly University Presidents. They represent the schools. The schools approve of his actions if they do not fire him. They are responsible for his or the NCAA's actions.

If you change the organization that administers Collegiate sports and the schools are in charge again will there be a difference from what we see today? Not likely because I believe making sure the money keeps rolling in is the primary goal of the Universities and they don't care much about anything else. Emmert is a clown show that draws heat while the board of governors stay in the background insulated.

Yes but when people say destroy the NCAA they don't realize the same clowns will be in charge when the rebranding occurs. The same tricks will go on.

Emmert is the one who goes in front of Congress to defend the NCAA. He is the one who does press conferences when there is an issue. Everyone blames him when UNC and Duke get to play on a different playing field. He is the front man while the board of governors remain invisible.

Ive had him on mute for years now. Who thinks he does a good enough job for ESPN to keep bringing him back????

He's dumb and frankly he sounds a lil creepy sometimes with his comments
He does get creepy at times. A few years back he kept going on about Bam's shoulders. We all know Bam was jacked, but Dickie V wouldn't stop and it was super cringey.

After watching UNC "get investigated" by the NCAA, only to find problems with the football team.... THEN, reopen an investigation years later that took literally YEARS only after a rival school published damning info....

Only to find that it wasn't a NCAA issue (you know, fake classes and all...)

You're telling me that the other member Universities would approve of this? And that they did? You're trying to make it appear so matter of fact and simple, when we all see that it's corruption...

So, yes, I'm okay with starting over and seeing if the next Organization can do it any better...

What can we say when our very own president decides not to punish schools for academic fraud? What was his reason for doing this?

Why do they let Duke and UNC slide? Because exposing their poster children also exposes them. EVERY school would be on probation if put under a strict NCAA Microscope. The member schools dont want their own cash cow's exposed to the light of day.

Ramifications would be possibly losing their non-profit status, players unionizing and taking a cut of the pie, over sight by their own state or university to reign in spending.

That last one is big because when you're a non-profit you spend everything you've got. Its EASY to never show a profit. The magic is to continually claim proverty, but pay your top employees literally millions per year guaranteed. No other business could spend like some of these schools, and look into the cameras with a straight face and say "we're broke". Its laughable.
