He coached 4 years at the University of Detroit (big time college power????) and one (1978-1979 season, 30-52 record) year as coach of the Detroit Pistons before being fired. Really, the guy was a head coach for 5 total years before becoming a television motormouth.

That pretty well nails it. He is the Gerry Faust of basketball, except Gerry was at least likeable. I don't even like Vitale.

Dickie V does not know **** about coaching basketball. He got fired as a coach, and never got another job as a coach. So now he just runs his mouth, to prove he's ignorant. I wonder if he's looked at the last 6 years of Cal's coaching, obviously not. Last night told me all I needed to know about Cal's LACK of coaching. I don't know how the Cal Suckers can keep defending him, based on the facts.
