Well, here is a scenario: sometimes we have no choice. Maybe some have kids that are involved in activities, had to DVR it and watch later or maybe at a family function (it is Christmas time) and have to watch with everyone else.

So sometimes fans don't have a choice

Plus, fans have a right to complain about programming that they are paying to receive and not getting what they are paying for. When I go to a restaurant, I expect the waiter to do his/her job in a way that makes me want to come back.

I once told a waiter that I wanted "Freedom Fries." He lectured me and told me that they only had French Fries. I didn't leave him a tip. If he had kept his mouth shut, he would have gotten one. Viatale reminds me of an obnoxious waiter who insults the people he is being paid to serve.

Paraphrase of the "lecture"?

Paraphrase of the "lecture"?

To be honest, that was a good while ago and I don't recall what he said but more that he went on for about 2 minutes. I was basically joking when I said it in the first place and he just made me feel very uncomfortable in front of my friends. Had he just simply said, "We only have French Fries." I would have been okay with that.

The comparison with Vitale is similar in that Vitale didn't just make a comment, he went on and on about it. It lacked professionalism and common sense. But, I've learned that DV has neither.

I fell off Vitale's boat when he openly encouraged Patrick Patternson to go elsewhere. That crossed the line.

Vitale has gotten too long on the tooth. He really should fade into retirement.

I will correct the record on one point. Many on this board touted this year's team as more talented than last years. There were various threads on the topic. The Harrison's were repeatedly trashed over it. Last year's team was uniquely gifted. I think everyone sees that now.
There's ONE reason last year's team was better: Karl Anthony-Towns. Put him on this year's squad and I would take that team over last year.

Amazing that people still take last year's team for granted. That was the best non-title team since UNLV, and one of the better teams the sport has seen. And they demolished teams just as brutally during the first half of the season, where Karl started almost like Skal and wasn't even one of our top 3 post players, much less our best player.

I used to love Dick Vitale. I met him when I was young and it was like a huge deal. but man he has gotten so bad over the years. was a good coach and a good guy but has lost it with announcing. He helped out with a cancer charity at my old school though so I can't bag on him too much.
If I remember right I think he won 3 games one year at Detroit. May have been his last year in coaching! Not so sure how great a coach he was?
