Nonsense. Had the Hawks done that last night they probably would have lost 13-3 (or more). But, I'm sure you would be fine with that.

Learn the game.
Think what you will. But at least understand how wildy inaccurate the narratives are.

Iowa did not run two traditional runs plays in a row until under 11:00 to go in the 4th Q. Ran on 3rd and 1 with Williams, then on 1st and 10 with Williams.

By "traditional", I mean a run that can pound the defense. Not jet sweeps, qb sneaks, etc.

Before that point in the 4th Q, Iowa had once followed a run with a goal line qb sneak, and at another point followed a run with an end-around handoff to DJV.

Then there were two consecutive power runs (the 2nd from Brown) with just under 8 minutes to go in the 4th Q. Then, with under 3 minutes to play, Iowa ran it 7 straight times.

For people to be characterizing it as "run, run, pass" is absurd. Some people have no idea what they are watching

Had the Hawks run as much as you wanted, they would have lost. Last night was a perfect example of why you need to be able to throw the ball.

Also....spell better.
Agree.....AND not be so predictable on WHEN we throw the ball all the time. I truly believe we will see more creativity the more Hanks settles in.

Until the focus shifts to the run game, these games are going to be close.

Throwing the ball that much is tough to watch.

So far, the shinny toys have been a distraction
Yeah, continuing to run when the LBs and safeties are crashing downhill is a brilliant strategy. They don't win Saturday without that "shiny toy" long ball to Diaz.
You truly are a ******* idiot.

I'm not going to spend the time explaining the value of establishing the run. Welcome to football.

And I've provided the information that shows the run was never established in that game

"Establishing the run" against a defense that is selling out to stop it is a prescription for three-and-outs. This isn't the days of Nebraska being bigger than everyone else and having 100 guys on scholarship will other teams had 70.
Scratch where it itches

So your answer against teams that sell out against the run is to abandon the run.

Brilliant. That's exactly what they want you to do.

KF highly prioritizes being the most physical team on the field. And that just isn't going to get accomplished by not ever running it at least twice in a row

Great posts! It was only thanks to Diaz's skill that we were able to score quickly, then get the ball back to score again to tie it at half time. The fact is, there will be defenses that will sell out to stop the run, and it will work. There are some lines our Oline won't be able to beat in the trenches. Luckily they bent, but never broke. Iowa State kept giving our WRs cushion to catch, which allowed us to actually move the ball, unlike the run. It was only thanks to burning their secondary time and time again that our run game started to pick up a little steam in the fourth.

Some people are mentally unwell if they believe yelling the same, nothing burger phrase over and over again, despite whatever the in-game situation is, will just magically fix things. Luckily it's Lester and Kirk on the sidelines, and not our local midwit reject. Happy to see him be proved wrong, time and time again!

as a WR diaz for sure
for punt and kickoff returns dwight
Tell me this clown has only followed Hawkeye football for the past 2 weeks. People with short memories forget that:

DJK had 181 yards in a single Big 10 game.
He had 3 touchdown receptions against Michigan when they were a Top 10 team.
He had 8 catches against two different Big 10 teams.
He had a 99 yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Top 10 Ohio State
He finished his career as Iowa's all-time leader in both receptions and yards.

Other than that, I'm sure there are some DIII transfers who have played two games against cupcakes that are easily superior to that.

In short, too early to tell. Diaz has only played 2 games. Can't compare that to guys with multi-year careers.

admit some recency bias and a dash of look test.
djk was very good perhaps time will show that he was better than diaz. that said you conveniently take that shot at me when diaz has only played two games for us. interestingly in his first 2 games djk played against niu and isu in which he accumulated 2 catches for 30 yards, 0 TDs. as we know, diaz in his first two games (against niu and isu) has 15 catches, 179 yards, 1TD. so don't be a chump, give diaz a chance.
