a lot of people are starting to think it's one or the other. Which one would you prefer and what do they bring to the table that the other doesn't?

Johnson is probably a better shooter right now and Diallo more athletic. Do they both start at the 2G or do they share time there with Knox?

Diallo because of his long-term projections. But we’d be fortunate with either. They both add incredible length on the perimeter and bring different strengths to the roster. Diallo probably complements Knox and Green more due to his slashing ability, but Johnson opens up the floor for the driving lanes Vanderbilt and Green like to take advantage of.

A win-win if either of these two are on the UK roster next year.

Tough call. Diallo more athletic and knows the system but Johnson has more experience and has proved himself in tough ACC. With this team being so young I think I take Johnson.

Johnson. Diallo is a shooting guard who can't shoot. Johnson made better than 40 percent of his 3s playing in the ACC and he's a veteran. Plus an outstanding student.

Diallo. Elite driver is seeming more of a need than shooting. I'd prefer both but if I have to take one then it's Diallo because he seems like the guy that can take over and get to hoop when offense breaks down while it seems we have a roster full of solid shooters.

Johnson has more experience and we need that on this team,he will probably be here 2 years and he is likely more interested in winning a NC than in his draft stock

Diallo is the type of guard we need(defense and ball handling and getting to the basket) his shooting is a bit suspect but he reportedly is athletic enough to do more things than Johnson

If you consider overall value and team needs it is a very tough call..Johnson could learn to play better defense,Diallo might not learn to shoot better in a year so Johnson edges Diallo out in my book.

Diallo. Are you serious with those numbers at the combine? Dude will help us immensely next year. That being said, I'd be happy with Johnson too. It's a win-win

I'm ok with someone making the case for either guy. But "because of his long-term projections" seems like a silly reason for a guy who (if he plays) is expected to play for only 1 season. Whereas Johnson is a likely 2-yr player for us.

I think it comes down to D vs O. If you want the far better shooter, experienced guy who could be a leader, & maybe better offensive player, then you probably want Johnson. If you want the likely better defender, with more explosiveness on both ends, then you want Diallo.

Personally I'm ok with either, would love both, and REALLY don't want to lose out on both.

Johnson for experience and shooting plus I think he will be here two years. I'm confident in the guys we have to give us very solid defense all over the floor which is the strength of Diallo. Therefore, I think Johnson fills more of an immediate need and future need a bit more than Diallo right now. In the end, I will be very happy if we can end up with either one of these guys, just give me one of them and I'm fine with the team we have.

Based on the fact that outside shooting could potentially be a weakness and we have several other slashing type players I would say Johnson could be a bigger need. With that being said I wouldn't mind Diallo either.

We have our shooter in Baker & even Knox but he's more than a shooter.

NOW we need Diallo's athletic slashing ability. He'll also make us that much tougher defensively.

Diallo...wouldn't really consider him a freshman anyway he's had 4 months of the system and had gone up against monk and fox who are top 10 maybe bother top 5 picks. He is also going to be on a mission to prove he's a lottery if not better.

My main concern is we only have Green and Alexander that can handle the ball if teams pressure us...(and I'm not as sold on Alexander as some). We really are going to need ball handling on multiple spots of the floor. So I'll go with Diallo.

your right ......I think Knox will handle the ball more than most sf but he is a very good ball handler.............Diallo s a good ball handler but expert say he weak in this department...I really dont know I haven't seen him play against college competition but he did go against fox and monk everyday ...so he must be pretty good.

In Cal's system you always want the guy who seems to be genetically designed to play defense the way Diallo is.

Diallo. He's the better athlete and defender, has experience in the system, and I don't think his jumper is as broke as everyone on here says it is, it just isn't his strong suit. He's a gamechanger for us with his athleticism.

I admittedly don't know much about Cam Johnson other than he's a big guard and can make 3's, but his defensive level will determine whether Cal would even play him or not. Obviously I hope we get him if Diallo opts to go pro, but even then I'm not sure it's a guarantee he starts at the 2 or gets the kind of minutes we might be expecting based on his offensive abilities.

Obviously either is a win. If I was just looking at next season, then I take Diallo but the fact that you can have Johnson for 2 years pushes him ahead.

Gotta go with Diallo, but I don't think that means we'd Be in any worse shape with Johnson. Both bring something different to the table. With Diallo you get an athletic freak, lottery potential guard, and defensive juggernaut.

With Cam you get experience, outside shooting, and two years out of him.

At this point, I want the guy who wants to be at UK. Regardless of family situation, finances, and "dreams".

Give me the guy that wants to be at Kentucky next season

The case for Johnson is that he is a proven college shooter. We don't have that currently on the roster. Plus he'd be here for two years.

Diallo should be the better player both immediately and by the end of the year. I could understand taking Johnson if we already had a few guys who we knew were going to be studs right from the get go, but everyone on the roster is a question mark at this point. I think you take the stud, making it more likely that one of these guys ends up being a surprise.
